Player Djed Spence

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

The margins of error in the prem are too fine to possibly countenance leaving your best player on the bench, and off vital cup squads. There’s really no other explanation other than Ange was not aware how good Spence would/could be.

Some of that is down to the player surely -

If you arent showing how good you can be then no one is going to see it.

And good is also subjective - is he tracking back in training, is he doing the dirty stuff as well as the easy stuff - so many factors that we arent privy to?

How does that work in practice? Who do you want to pick the team?

The DOF?

Levy?

Kids play because the coach at the club thinks they are good enough. It has ever been thus and thus it will ever be
.

I doubt he gives a fuck. If anything he seems like the type of man who wants all the fuel you can send his direction.
If you can explain to me how Spurs managed to let go of Marcus Edwards, after giving him one opportunity, while giving Harry Winks 200 opportunities, I will listen to your reasoning and respect your right to an opinion.

There are a lot of young players who have come to Spurs, or through the academy, in the last few years, who have been ruined / gone on to be better elsewhere.

Ryan Sessegnon and Jack Clarke are two examples. Edwards is another.

Of course all clubs let players go who go on to do better. There are many famous examples.

What I am questioning is why it has kept happening at Spurs; over a short period of time.

I didn't like what Poch did to Nabil Bentaleb tbh.

Edwards may come back to bite Spurs.

Me.

I always wonder why we got rid of Marcus Edwards, while persevering with Winks, for 200 games, and what has happened to Spence suggests to me something needs to be done internally at THFC to make sure the kids with talent get in the team ahead of the 'nice kids' with parents who may play golf.

Spence is owed an apology for having his character assasinated via the media.
Winks at his peak was better than Marcus Edwards at his peak.

The Ange comments are particularly cringe.

Did he loan him out last season, agree a 8m euro option and not pick him for the europa league squad despite having 2 full backs because he rated him and always thought their was a player there? did he fuck.

He didnt rate him and eventually played him out of necessity due to injuries.

Rubbish.

Winks is a bang average plodder.

Doesn't excel at creating, scoring or stopping.

Nobody has ever been able to explain to me what Harry Winks actually does as a footballer.

Passing the ball, short distances, in neutral areas of the pitch, under no pressure, means nothing.

NOTHING.

Who will relieve Leicester of Winks if they go down?

NOBODY.

Edwards will pass Winks on the way up to the Premier League.

Edwards can do things Winks can only dream about. The boy had ability and got the Spence treatment playbook from THFC.

Bad attitude; keeps bad company.

It's bollocks.

Winks at his best was a decent prem level player, even got an England call up. Outside of highlight reels, Edwards was never even close.

Harry Winks has 6 goals and 8 assists in 258 career appearances

Marcus Edwards has 41 goals and 27 assists in 212 career appearances.

We will all be finding out next season how good Marcus Edwards is in terms of if he is good enough for the Premier League.

We already know Harry Winks is not good enough for the Premier League.

Poch liked Winks better than Edwards. Maybe Winks had a better attitude and professionalism. Maybe he was just a better player.

Sessegnon had chances.

Players slip the net. Sometimes they need to slip a net or 2 before they realize what it takes to make it as a pro.

Some incredibly talented ones slip every net and never realize

Just the way it is imo

Mousa Dembele, 10 goals, 10 assists in 249 games for spurs
Brennan Johnson, 19 goals, 13 assists in 68 games for spurs

see how pointless your stats are

Winks contributed absolutely nothing to THFC.

We went backwards from the minute we replaced Wanyama and Dembele with Winks and Sissoko.

Edwards could have been integrated into that team and made a bigger contribution than Winks ever did.

That is what those stats tell me.

Levy was too busy juggling the finance with N'jie and N'koudou.

I understand your assertion that I am not comparing apples with apples.

That is fair.

My assertion is that Edwards was good enough for THFC and somehow we let him go and persevered with Winks.

Poch talked up both players.

Levy got a sell on clause on Edwards.

Edwards got tagged with the bad attitude label.

Attacker has better attacking stats compared to a DM shocker

Edward's is 100% a Better attacker than winks

Winks is often described as a defensive midfielder.

This can only be because as his career has progressed it has become obvious, due to the stats, that he can't be described in any way as an attacking or creative player.

Do you remember Harry Winks defending?

Winks is nothing.

He's an enigma.

Edwards has some worth to any team. So does Ollie Skipp.

Skipp wins tackles and can defend.

Winks was very good. He ran a midfield against Spain. He got injured and then he was ok.
