Spanish league trialling it currently

The danger is, just like 'Spanish flu' before it (1919 flu killed millions) it spreads to cost fans millions !

I live in the city and I can tell you, this has not gone down very well at all.

I was riding through the city on the eve of the Valencia V Villareal game, and already saw placards up with 'Money over Fans' 'We give enough already' sort of sentiment.

What with that and LIM GO HOME flags and banners absolutely everywhere, whilst also sitting bottom of La Liga, not a good look.

Oh ffs I was joking about this in the gifs thread!
Does this also work both way in if no cunt wants to go the tickets get cheaper until they are 1p? No don’t think so :levywhoa:

As a business model : It’s been known to work tbf .

Just saying.

i.e.

10 pounds for “ground admission “ v Scunthorpe , Carabao Cup 4th Round .

Then once you’ve booked:

55 pounds for a seat
with a view of the pitch , 8
pounds for a pint of beer , 4 pounds to use the toilet , scratch cards ; a fiver …. I could see it happening if I’m being honest.

There are some US based ticket resell apps which do true market demand dynamic pricing, often times you can get last second tickets far below face value. I've actually given up my season tickets and started using that route for basketball tickets.

But, in general, stuff like this is terrible and if it's controlled by the club it's definitely going to be one-sided.

Wouldn't be so bad if the prices went down when we were shit but they are probably going to start high and only get higher.

Does demand really fluctuate that much during the season? We pretty much sell out every match, even for weeknights.

The end days of top tier football are near for real fans.
It’s been going down the gluttony route for years now.
This caps it off.
Stadia full of tourists with lots of money.
The possible upside is that there are a lot of people who just love watching football rather than getting a glimpse of their favourite star(s) so folk who can’t afford surge pricing may start going to watch their local non/lower league team, helping them to stay afloat in the process.

The trend will become that people go to games as a one-off special occasion..... Much like those that spend hundreds or thousands going to see Oasis and Taylor swift aren't regular gig-goers. Going to such events just becomes a premium lifestyle accessory.

Regular, bread and butter punters are no longer deemed lucrative enough for the greedy.

Nah.... Base level will just rise to maintain a minimum level no lower than it is now.

This is a measure to extract more money..... The greedy cunts won't leave the back door open.

The problem is that we as a club have a large following of relatively affluent supporters ( albeit of a certain age in many cases ) .

Dynamic pricing ( as in the cost can go up and down) will only happen once people actually stop going . It’s been said before , I know.

We’re a bit like Wimbledon or Glastonbury or places to live in London : demand outstrips supply , And enough people have deep enough pockets , evidently.

I’m pretty sure that DL is on record as saying he (and his Uncle )jumped on the chance to get involved in football because he realised it had become, ( was to become)
the biggest “ entertainment “ in the world .

Bums on seats ……

PS I can remember watching a First Division game at the “ old old WHL “ with 17 k others ….. it wouldn’t happen today .
