Considering how Conte doesn't tend to be particularly long term at any club I wouldn't be averse to loaning Emerson out next season if we can get a proper RWB in. That way we can make a decision in 2023 depending on if Conte extends his contract, or if the next manager wants to use traditional fullbacks or stick to wingbacks.

It's a world cup next season as well, so he will want to play.
That's actually a smart point.

I thought he played well again, he lacks quality on the ball but is now trying to get forward and make things happen. He is no longer always taking the easy choice. Defensively no problems with him at all.

Looks to be a good choice in games against better sides where his limitations going forward get shown, which isnt surprising given hes used to playing in a back 4 before coming here. Not the worlds shittest player by a long way and still for me probably not the player Conte would want in his system, but a capable deputy in games where we will see less of the ball in an attacking sense. I think we'd all be a lot happier with him if he hadnt cost what he did, basically.

Some of the Emerson bashers must be disappointed as he's had 2 good games in a row. No, he's still not the "solution" for the RWB spot next season but he deserves credit for another solid performance.
Sure, he could have had 2 goals but he was instrumental in keeping a clean sheet and he did position himself in scoring positions.
I reckon that Spurs would recover most, if not all, the money he cost.
He's a very likable person so it will be sad to see him go but that\s life as a footballer.

The fact that people claim these past two performances good show how low the bar is and how shit he actual is.

Two games where he offers nothing going forward and is mediocre at best defensively is not good.

Don’t know what’s going to happen with Doherty but keep Royal and buy a dynamic forward thinking right wing back and we’re onto a winner

No, Emerson sadly can’t play football. He has to go. Doherty can at least play the role that Conte demands from his RWB. Emerson is absolutely atrocious with the ball at his feet.

He’s young and it won’t be hard to find a buyer. It makes more sense to keep Doherty as he has actually shown over years with Wolves that he can play as a RWB in the PL.

Sell Emerson for sure.

He is young enough and Brazilian so some team will fool themselves into thinking that his inability to play football is down to the formation and not him being complete crap.

His issues are football related not WB vs. FB related so there is no way he is ever a positive for us going forward. Best to cut bait now before other clubs wise up.

EMERSON ROYAL celebrated with a FLARE against Woolwich after Harry Kane put Tottenham 2-0 up in the North London derby.
The England captain scored twice in the first half as Antonio Conte's men bossed the game in a 3-0 win that blew the race for the top four wide open.

Kane broke the deadlock from the penalty spot in the 22nd minute as he sent Aaron Ramsdale the wrong way.
Woolwich centre-back Rob Holding was then sent off after two bookable offences, with Spurs instantly making their extra man count.
Kane made it 2-0 in the 37th minute after scoring a close range header from a corner.
He ran to the corner to celebrate with the Spurs faithful, with one supporter throwing a flare onto the pitch.

And Royal was quick to pick it up before holding it in the air as he revelled in the atmosphere.

Fans were loving it as they took to social media to comment on the ex-Barcelona right-back.

One tweeted: "Iconic. Emerson Royal holding Tottenham flares."

Another posted: "Absolutely incredible."

Given that he’s getting so much of the ball and still been one of our best the last couple weeks despite not being a great footballer, it really makes you think that a really good wing back could do in this side

Young, new manager, new system, first season at Spurs.

Like Doherty, with dedicated coaching from Conte, they are slowly understanding snd adapting to their role.

Personally I think our main problems are in centre midfield and lack of creative midfielders.

If we gave Winks all that time to turn up and do something, surely we can give Emerson more than a season to prove himself? Lately he’s earnt that
