I don't see them having too many at the moment. They'll always be a difficult side to play against, but they are going to be nowhere near the team they once were for a fair while.
No idea mate, I don't follow what they have in their academies, junior and U21 sides. Just that they are a football factory going all the way back to Prosinecki and those guys.

Not an exciting performance but very solid, and definitely a deserved win. Much more to come from the likes of Kane and Foden. Our two centre-backs were absolutely solid and Pickford looks better in an England shirt all the time.

Pickford 7

Walker 6
Stones 7
Mings 8
Trippier 6

Rice 7
Phillips 9
Mount 6

Foden 7
Sterling 8 (I'll be kind)
Kane 5
Sterling 6 at best, without a goal it would have been 3/4

Those dissing the team selection before a ball was kicked................

I was never in any doubt myself.

Or best players were Phillips, Tripps, Mings, Sterling. Stones, Rice and Pickford were OK.
Foden had a few good moments. Mount and Kane disappointing. A few dodgy moments for Walker but defensively he was OK.
Shearer making an excellent point that the competition for places is great.

It wasn't rip snorting stuff, was pretty passive second half, against a Croatia team that's not in it's prime, but still one of the better recent England performances at a tournament. Would still like to see more from midfield, 433 next time for me, maybe moving Mount back as an 8, or bringing Bellingham in.

I wouldn't maybe have started him but I thought Sterling was probably the MOTM, apart from the goal, he worked his nuts off without the ball, a lot of which goes unnoticed.

Toss up between Phillips or Sterling for me. Both played very well

Great team performance. Very solid; I never felt nervous. Croatia were not trying to do much with the ball, which made for a bit of a boring game.
Yeah. They really didn't did they. Am fine with that but fuck me, 8t reminded me what a baller modric still is. Couldn't get the ball off him

We would have won with Shaw and Chilwell too, and probably would have even been that little bit more comfortable. It's unforgiveable for me when both Shaw and Chilwell have been in such good form.
Pretty comfortable from where I sat: they had 9ne shot in target. Basically nullified.

I agree it's a weird decision but trips is pretty good right? So no harm done.

I am a big fan of Bellingham but Southgate is a cautious man, he is comfortable with the players he is using.

At some point in this tournament, I would give the only bollock I have left to see this team:

Pickford

James
Stones
Maguire
Chilwell/Shaw

Rice/Phillips
Bellingham
Mount

Grealish
Sterling
Kane

What for?

Winning a game you are expected to win, while making suspicious selections that some of clearly didn't pay off?
yeh as I said people are straight haters. I don't mind a difference of opinion but when it's fueled from hatred with no substance then there's really no point even debating.

People pre game cried and moaned about his selection and we just bossed Croatia with the players people were moaning about as the stand out players (Trippier, Mings and Phillips).

Kane was quiet but as others have said he was double marked. In theory that means other attackers have more space so while he didn’t do much just being on the pitch affected the game.

Peak Eden Hazard was this. He sometimes got triple marked to stop him which meant Chelsea could run riot on the other side. Even Zaha has this effect to a degree. Some players scare other managers so much that they either mark heavy or risk it. Kane does this as well it seems.
