Confirmed … levy dabbled & interfered with transfers

From a bloke who worked under him , on TalkSPORT just now

Players that we had in through the door & levy didn’t want
Yeah listening to that, David Webb head of elite recruitment I think. Worked at Bournemouth, Palace as well.
Jordan was asking for backing on his view that Levy was hands off; DW said he liked to have his input, certainly at the end, and stated at a certain price point.

And also yes to did he get involved in saying no to certain players. DW seemed frustrated and said yes, especially given way Poch played we had identified players that would have taken spurs in a different direction. To who had the final say, he said Poch.

I doubt Eriksson was the main reason Roman bought Chelski...

Sven-Goran Eriksson reveals he told Roman Abramovich to buy Chelsea and NOT Spurs in a nightclub, because he only needed to buy 'half a team'... 24 HOURS before Russian completed deal

  • Sven-Goran Eriksson has admitted he told Roman Abramovich to buy Chelsea
  • Ex-England boss advised the Russian to avoid Tottenham and go for the Blues
  • Eriksson claimed Abramovich took his advice and bought club within 24 hours

Sven-Goran Eriksson has admitted he told Roman Abramovich to buy Chelsea instead of Tottenham because they would need less improvement.
In 2003, Russian billionaire Abramovich was keen to enter the Premier League and buy a Premier League club.
And the oligarch, who has ties to Russian president Vladimir Putin, asked Eriksson for advice on whether to take over Spurs or the Blues.

Didn’t Poch say he didn’t have the final say? That he had no influence over transfers? But Webb is saying he did?

Who is the bloke?

And Levy interfered, yet we still signed players he didn’t want? Doesn’t that mean he acquiesced to someone else?
mick derry has pretty much answered that , but regardless of you’re leaning , it was a very interesting listen . Worth a listen

I think the question was asked about final say, he said poch and levy would be involved ; who had final say.. Poch.

But seems to be within certain price point and inference is that certain players would be turned down due to that.
Also, in the final summation after DW has gone, Jordan and White have a kickabout and Jordan says yes he got involved more than I thought, but that it was probably due to knock on effect of wages. SJ also says DW does seem to indicate that it was not only on wages, but DL also had interference on basis of talent .

So, my point now, is that it seems Poch would have had the yes or no to Sissoko, but that others may have been rejected on pricing beforehand (maybe also talent .

If none of the tech experts can put up the clip, I will do a transcript later. Not least because I wasn't taking notes and will have made errors of mishearing and misunderstanding.

Its a bit of nonsence that the manager has the final say without the context. In that Poch book he was clearly underwhelmed with Sissoko but took him because it was transfer deadline day and a body in the squad because we were short. So yes, Poch approved it but there is a big difference in that and who he wanted to bring in. Similar for Redknapp with Saha and Nelsen. Just players coming in so we're not short. Then they get the blame for wanting that rubbish.

Appreciate that. It’s always difficult to work out who has the say on incoming players. We’ve had so many managers, head scouts, DoFs over the years that it’s hard to get your head around who bears responsibility for the good and the bad.

I’d hope Levy sets a budget for the window and lets the football guys work out how to spend it and on whom. I’d love for this to be cleared up by the club, but hearing Poch say he has no decision making ability in transfers, then Webb saying he did, doesn’t really clear much up! 😂

Really appreciate the post bud.

So a chairman having the final say on price.

A chairman who said "no" to players that wouldn't fit the managers style of play.

A chairman who let his manager have the final say.

CURSE YOU LEVY !!!!!!!!

Further confirmation of exactly what I and many others on here AND numerous ex managers..have been saying for years.

It's like being taken to a restaurant while starving hungry after being deprived of food for a few days...

1st choice. Filet mignon with Dauphine potatoes: off the menu

2nd choice. Roast Aberdeen beef with sauted vegetables, : Off the menu

3rd Choice. Chicken Nuggets with spicy wedges: Off the menu

Eventually you settle for the beans on toast.

It's no wonder every manager Levy appoints eventually gets worn down and becomes his latest scapegoat

The gap in choice and quality between the first 2 options and number 3 makes me question the owners of this “restaurant” as well.

Sounds like you have wandered into a greasy spoon cafe.
