LMAO how did I know some loon was going to bump this thread 🤣
Ha ha ha! Of course you would say that

:roflmao::roflmao:

I would say that having just been bummed by our biggest rivals, who, despite finishing outside the Champions League places massively outspent us in the summer and seriously backed their manager. While we once again left glaring, gaping deficiencies in our first XI,...bumping this thread is absolutely justified.

You soooo hate seeing any criticism of ENIC, don't you. 🤣🤣

I see.

So failing to upgrade glaring, gaping deficiencies in our starting XI is nothing to do with the owners who oversee the transfer budget, and leave our managers short every window?

Gotcha!
I’ve criticised ENIC a fuck load over the years. Everyone was saying how great this transfer window was and whilst yes, we brought in some good players, we didn’t improve at RWB which was our biggest weakness and failed to bring in a CB of the required level. Lenglet seems alright but it’s a year long loan of a player who was shocking last season.

But the fact is that we have a strong squad who are more than capable of beating Woolwich. Levy doesn’t have anything to do with match day tactics, formations or selection. That is on Conte and his coaching staff.

Whilst yeah, ENIC and Levy aren’t immune to criticism for poor investment in the squad over the years. That isn’t the reason why we lost yesterday. That isn’t the reason why we’ve played dreadful football for the majority of this season. Blaming them now is just wilfully ignoring the giant fucking Italian elephant in the room.

The people who primarily to blame for that are the players and the coaching staff. Kane, Son, Richarlison, Perisic, Bissouma, Bentancur, Romero, Dier, Kulusevski, Lloris. We’ve got some brilliant players to choose from. Players who are far, far better than their Woolwich counterparts. The difference is the way they are set up to play. One team wanted to play football yesterday and it wasn’t us. That isn’t Levy‘s fault.

Imagine you had to explain this to a grown adult.

Sorry. What were those glaring deficiencies?

RWB, LCB, AM?
Discussed to death in the transfer thread.
It’s almost as if some of our fans think you can just magic available CL-level players out of thin air.

I see a false narrative is occurring regarding the respective spending, so let's put that straight first.

Spurs spend this season;
£153m gross
£118m net

Woolwich spend;
£119m gross
£97m net

But apparently they "massively" out spent us and we invested "a fraction" of the amount in transfers that they did.

Yeah, I must admit after the fanfare of big summer of spending this season, I don’t really see an upgrade on the starting 11.
I think we all got a bit carried away thinking we might get some top players in.
More squad depth in reality.

Can’t see anything but at best, a top 4 is our eveything trophy again until enic/levy go.

If you can get top 4 then the two domestic cups aren’t beyond reach (with a little luck).

Romero is counted into that net spend so he would count. We expected Bissouma to actually play. I’m sure he’ll get a chance at some point. Udogie and Spence both count and are future options.

This could be a good long term window but it’s definitely not an amazing short term one. Especially as Romero was already a given to most of us.

Really like Bissouma but seems conte not so much. But he might just being smart & bedding him in gradually. Yeah l, Romero we had last season too so I don’t see him as a new signing. Bissouma would probably improve us in the middle but the rest are good squad depth or for the future as you mentioned.
Where as Woolwich have improved there starting 11. Luckily Liverpool & Chelsea seem weaker so we have hope for top 4 but it will be tough. United can only improve this season I think.

Of course you can if you’re prepared to pay real money not pennies - all big clubs do it on a consistent basis.

The ongoing and categorically false suggestion by some ENIC apologists on here that they were simply no players available to improve horrible cloggers like Royale, Davies, Hojberg, Dier, ball playing mid, finally replace Dembele is laughable as much as it is absurd.

The most frustrating part is the fact we actually made CL and had (what so far has proven to be a hoax at best and criminal misrepresentation at worst) EXTRA 150m available and yet we’ve barely spent half of that and marginally improved the starting 11. My only hope is we’ve saved some of that for Jan after the WC but unlikely.

The problem with this argument is that Paratici and Conte were driving this window not ENIC so the majority of our signings (bar Spence) were the managers picks so if you're taking issue with anyone with this window you need to point the finger at Mr Conte after all we called for ENIC to back the manager and that is literally what they did, no need to move the goalposts now.

I'm responding to the assertion no players were available to improve some of our own
