ENIC In or ENIC Out

Yep and Redknapp. January 2012 we had a decent shot at the title. Zaha and Ryan Nelson arrived, enough said. We were in such a position of strength in May this year, top 4, Conte, stadium done and full and started ok in the market and then basically stopped. Didnt get a first team RWB, didnt improve centre back and didnt get a decent keeper or another playmaker. Should be 3 strikes and you're out.
Good shout on 2012. Agree

None of those moments would have needed vast Chelsea style spending, just some deals done for good players. Said players may not have been cheap or great value per se individually, but would have built momentum and got us close. Be very lucky to finish in the top 6 this season now and will be scrambling to stay in the top 8 for a while as Lloris, Kane and others will need replacing

Levy crashes the train to keep the overall wage bill low.

When a player like Carrick, Berbatov, Modric or Bale emerged from the smeg, and stepped up a level while playing with a cock on his chest, Levy and ENIC never really put up much of a fight, in terms of making vastly improved wage offers to the aforementioned quartet, in the hope that they would stay at Spurs and Spurs could build on their quality. Levy realised that if he improved the terms for one player he may be expected to pay others more too.

Levy always opted to avoid increasing the overall wage bill, sell Tottenham's top performing players when they reached this tipping point, and re-invest the received ransom from the buying club into another spread bet of players, from European or English clubs of lower stature than Spurs, who were as easy for Levy and ENIC to exploit, as Spurs were from the perspective of a Manchester United or a Real Madrid.

Levy loved these hostage situations, regarding star players, and would rather sack a manager who objected to his best players being sold from under him, regardless of their achievements, to achieve the desired outcome of an overall low wage bill, low supporter expectation and a general acceptance that Spurs should 'know their place'.

Levy crashed Poch's train when he gave Lloris, Kane, Son and Dele huge pay rises, that were disproportionate to their team mates' remuneration, to protect his investment and maybe sell them at a later date.

The morale of the rest of the under payed players, such as; Toby, Jan, Rose, Eriksen, Dembele and Wanyama collapsed as they lost interest, left the club, ran down their contracts or a combination of all these things.

To remove ENIC it will require the skill and ruthlessness that Levy has demonstrated for over 20 years.

I can't see it ever happening now.

That ship sailed when they knocked down WHL.

ENIC are here until ENIC don't want to be here.

And Enic haven't ?

Without taking money out of the club either.
Just massing huge debt , a debt that THFC are responsible for

There’s also some weird stuff going on about transactions between ENIC & the club

Note 23 to the standalone accounts of Tottenham Hotspur Limited itemises commercial transactions undertaken between the Club and ‘related parties’, or in other words, companies owned by ENIC outside of the Club structure. The majority of these by value related to land and property transfers between the two groups. During 2020-21 the Club purchased land and property from ENIC companies to the value of £2.2m; ENIC companies bought land and property from the Club to the value of £5.2m.
The recent success of the Club in gaining planning permission for its Printworks development (819-827 High Road, currently the properties either side of the Royale venue) has increased scrutiny over the Club’s property development activity. Our concern is to ensure that resources are not diverted from the football operations into property. By law, commercial arrangements between related parties have to be conducted on an ‘arm’s length basis’, that is to say that they are undertaken on the same basis as if they were with external third parties. The Club advises that this was assured by the use of independent third-party valuation consultants to determine the market price of transferred properties. This is a recognised approach. However, in order to provide additional reassurance, THST asked for sight of one such valuation report. Regrettably, this request was declined on the basis of commercial confidentiality.

Being honest , I’m kind of past caring about ENIC & levy but they are dodgy as fuck . Hardly going down the rabbit hole looking into them on company house or whatever it’s called, new side companies popping up even THFC side companies

Also if they hadn’t hired Pochettino, who was the biggest luck out of their entire 20 odd years owning us, where would we be now?

Hell, Levy didn’t even want Poch initially! He only went for him because LvG shafted us and joined Manure.

Yeah this is all well and good until you realise that Poch came in and had a good academy to work from, had players who had huge potential like, Kane Eriksen, Vertonghen, Walker, Lloris, Dembele, they wouldn't have been here if it wasn't for the board and I very much doubt that Poch would have been the success he was, one can't happen without the other.

The only reason why we can attract the likes of Poch, Jose, Conte is because of the board's vision and what they put in place, so we can all say ENIC got lucky but you very much make your own luck in this game.

Exactly.
Saw a reply to the tweet saying it shouldn’t be about big spending and City, Newcastle, Chelsea etc aren’t football clubs.

That may be right but it doesn’t change the fact that it is about spending if you are trying to compete with those clubs,

Sure you can get Kulu or Bentancur on lower fees/wages but if you scout a Lautaro Martinez or a Bastoni or Skriniar and it takes big fees and wages, you have to be willing to go all in and get them because your competitors will.

Goons are top of the league and about 80m on a kid from Shaktar. Liverpool were really sure about VVD and spent what it took and it transformed their entire club.
