No, no no, to anyone using this to defend levy. This is so blatantly obvious and crystal clear that the recruiter isn't impressed with the decisions taken by Levy. Missing out on key players. Given that this recruiter has hindsight, he is referring to players who have done well elsewhere (i.e. not proven flops) given that he's implying they could have made a difference.

Fundamentally disagree with anybody leaning on the "poch had final say" bandwagon.

Clear internal insight that Levy had a vocal opinion of players, and would get involved on costings, and "had a price mind" for a player.

If your managing director boss with a history of sacking employees told you,

"I prefer this cheaper option, its better value for money and looks better to me.....but YOU have final say".......is that really a choice or a charged question.

I defy half of the members on here to disagree with their managing director knowing full well if the more expensive alternative isn't guaranteed to work out then you are stuffed.
David Webb clearly says ultimately, Poch had the final say.

“When we want to buy a washing machine, we get a dryer that can do the same job. Instead of a sofa, we get a chair where you can also sit.

That’s the difference between Tottenham and the teams that are built to win.”

Poch had the final say on which of the 3 sofa beds he was offered instead of the fucking king sized mattress and frame he actually wanted.

Are you calling Sissoko a futon?

'It's a decision from the club and the player to sign a contract': Mauricio Pochettino bizarrely seems to distance himself from decision to hand Moussa Sissoko new four-year Tottenham deal. (Sept. 2019)

(Poch was sacked less than a month later and Sissoko was and still is completely shite. )

Look at this transfer window Conte want Zanolo who plays on the right and our divine leader bought Danjuma who plays on the left , club signing again

Grealish was one they missed, fits the “through the door” as it seemed agreed, wonder who else.

Villa were in trouble, Levy tried to take advantage by renegotiating down, they got a new buyer who said fuck you Levy.

£25M for 5 years of damn-near injury-free service, all qualifying for CL/EL including a CL final appearance.

Doesn't seem bad.

But, I know, ***mouth breathes*** "he's shite." ***mouth breathes***

You can have the final say. So long as its in line with the price I have in mind, and I like the player.

What did Poch have final say on, his first choice or a backup choice that matched levys expectations?
"There were things I wasn't privy to." - David Webb.

What price?

Building a billion pound stadium/redeveloping the area in one of the most-expensive cities on the planet is expensive.

Who woulda thunk it?

So where do ‘club signings’ fit into all this? And Poch’s comments about filling a nice home with shit furniture? You think Poch wanted shit furniture?

Most likely he had to deal with what he was given. Same as Jose. Same as Conte. They get some decent signings but have to accept the other signings as well.

So where do ‘club signings’ fit into all this?
That was a dickish thing for Conte to say about a player he absolutely gave his assent to signing.

Did Conte give his assurance that Spence would be fit for purpose this season as an every week starting wingback? No chance. It was a player with potential that everybody agreed would be allowed to develop, and the moment he's under any pressure Conte weaponizes that publicly.

Symptomatic of an unhappy marriage that was never going to work for long. Conte did the same shit when Chelsea spent hundreds of millions for him.
