Here is a list of the most successful English league clubs. We are 7th way behind Liverpool, Man U & Woolwich for trophies (the real traditional powerhouses).
Look at the stats in black & white.
We have always had way more in common with Villa & Everton & been on a similar level to them rather than Liverpool, Man U & Woolwich.
However I would say we have overtaken them very comfortably under Enic ( bar Villa this season) especually with the new stadium.
So we give them credit for that.
Everton fans are the ones who should really be complaining. They are the biggest loser's in recent years since the demise of the more 'traditional' big 6.
We have more than held our position.
Take out the mega corrupt money new players City/Chavski/Newcastle.
I would say we are now easily the 4th biggest club in the Country & this was achieved under enics watch.
Unfortunately because we have to now also compete against these super wealthy entities out natural finishing position in the league is probably now still around 6/7th. So in that regard it hasn't improved.
We have maintained our position. We surpassed it for a few years but as said football is cyclical.
The major gripe with Enic & I totally understand it, is not having a few more pots to show for the good years & there lack of planning recently.
The fact remains we should be finishing 6th or 7th nowadays which is rather like finishing 4th pre abramovich.
Those are just black & white simple facts.
Thoughts on Enic don't come into.
The table below shows our standing in the game.
