City didn't fiddle their way forward, though. They had several years to pump a shitload of money into the club without having to worry about FFP. Once FFP came about their seed spending had started to generate revenue. And even then they still had to do some accounting gymnastics to get by. And you think that Newcastle in this environment will be able to emulate that without the benefit of the head start that City got?
Well they are accused of corruption on a major scale with more than 100 charges levelled against them so it's fair to suggest they have not been above board.

Do I think it will be AS easy for Saudi Toon? On paper no but they could use shill companies & offshore accounts to add to deals.

1/ We all know they are not independent of the Saudi state.

2/ The EPL cant check every transaction a nation state makes.

So Player A signs for the toon on wages of 150k a week. He 'mysteriously' also receives the same amount into a Caymen Islands account & has been gifted a £10m property on the Island.

In a year when our total turnover was around 300m and we were in the process of building a stadium we should have just spent it all on players, eh?

Go buy yourself a Lamborghini. You should be able to afford it based on your financial logic.

Why does our transfer budget have to be fully self funded? The leaches bought the club for 30M, not unreasonable to expect them to pony up £300M via an external route - either one off owner investment (to both win things and grow their investments value), or sell a small, minority stake to raise money…..

No, we bumbled along assuming we could continue to improve on the cheap and missed a massive opportunity. How’s that working out now? They’ve shit the bed and you are lying in it

Why is everyone gassing up Newcastle
Because with new owners in appreciably less time than it took ENIC they attained top 4, without excessive spending either thus far . Furthermore they were a championship team quite recently and relegation fodder under Ashley .

So they have come from a lower starting position and usurped us pretty damn quickly .

EDIT : Playing in a style that is enjoyable to watch , with a manager who was free and available. A manager that a CEO getting paid. 3-6 million a year should have probably hired

Guy has got emotional.

I chastise myself for getting involved. I got emotional when I said I'd block him. I'd never block him. Wrong decision.

He was/is a good poster. But he's aged. Think he's 60 now.

I'm not ageist but the likes of him, Baz and hab are just reactionary now.

Thinking about the past.
Aged 60

how very dare you catherine tate GIF

👍Should also protest against petrodollars & corrupt entities funding premier League clubs.
Many fans including lots on here unfortunately dont give a fuck as long as they can brag about their ill gotten trophies .
So they got money from the desert post code lottery? So fucking what??? You are such an obvious levy paid for troll. Why don't you money about American money you twat? Human rights? Who fucking executes more people a year?

How much is levy paying you? What is the name on

So you moan about money from the postcode lottery in the desert but why don't you mourn about American money??

Where is your proof about the Cayman Islands bank accounts for players???? I'm afraid you'll find national League associations are all over this and have been for years since rangers were essentially relegated four divisions for literally this exact same thing.

You're stupid comments about the league not being able to look at every single transaction is irrelevant and absolutely f****** moronic as all they actually have to do is look at every single transaction for an individual player or of course the team, which ain't so hard.

Levy has this whole morning about petrol dollar crap going on for ages and as well known that he pays individuals to troll the internet worrying about it, how much do you get paid?

Yay all hail the money laundering sport washers who just happened to take advantage of 3 of the established top 6 shitting the bed which has never to my knowledge happened before in the Premier League, all whilst playing 1 game a week in a world cup year, WHAT An ACHIEVEMENT, HOW HAVE THEY MANAGED THAT?! 😆

So many of your are adamant that they will improve and challenge for the league (lol) I think before we start noshing of the Saudi's let's see how they cope with a European schedule and higher expectations on those players and the manager and perhaps some actual competency of half of the top 6 teams.

I still don't see the point of this though especially in this thread though, how weird.

surely Levy can see from outside this football club looks a disaster
or is his ego and the board sitting there thinking "what mugs all those folks are thinking we don't know what we are doing"

I’m not saying that they are going to win the league, they are however going to consistently finish above us now . If you cannot see that then you are deluding yourself . It was always going to happen but Levy has helped fast track their rise , along with Liverpool and Chelsea . Let’s see now it has happened which clubs out of Liverpool , Chelsea and Spurs are up for the fight .

I suspect Levy is in his bathroom right now looking for a nice clean white towel ready to throw in the ring before the season even starts .

In fact by saying winning is hard it’s clear he quit on his stool years ago in my opinion

I think 'Ryan' needs a holiday. o_O

Here's the thing with Levy, he's fucked a lot of things up and he's bottled it big time when the opportunity has been there to push the boat out and win.

He's also unlikely to change and even if we get close to winning again, he will probably be too scared to gamble on it again because his nature is that way.

He doesn't rate trophies as much as consistent Top 4 because he doesn't understand glory or the emotion of fans when it comes to winning things.

But to believe he has the mal-intent that some do is just unrealistic. He would like to win and built great infrastructure for the club. He's taken a good salary out of the club but they haven't asset-stripped the club or crippled it for their own benefit. He doesn't deserve the hatred he gets.

A lot of it comes from the state of English football IMO. We have a closed shop of Oil Money with nation-state ownership, or the legacy premier league clubs from the start of Sky Sports getting involved.

Anyone that dares to challenge is great for the premier league until they actually get close to challenging them and then suddenly you are the laughing stock for trying and failing.

It's frustrating to be personally invested in something and then get close but the owners didn't quite go hard enough, especially when you see what the owners of our worst rivals are about to do this summer since they have an opportunity to go hard at winning.

I fully understand the ENIC/Levy out movement and I'd be happy to see a change BUT to personally hate Levy is misdirected and misguided.

Nah, bloke's taking us all for a ride now.
Greedy bastards that are looking to squeeze us for every penny when it comes to our support of Spurs.

No DOF, no manager/head coach, no clue.

Death threats or going to his home? Nah, but pretty much everything else is fair game.

Until they go we'll continue to be a joke.

Call me old fashioned but I prefer not to beat myself up and bash my own club over a hypothetical event that hasn't happened yet, listen you may well be right but I've been following football so long to know that nothing is guaranteed and I find it a little premature to expect that a team who just jumped into the top 4 because of other team's failings will just continue to improve without any down moments.
