What about on record in the club's Amazon Prime documentary - claiming that Jose Mourinho was 'one of the two best managers in the world.'

Or from 2018 to 2019, going nearly 18 months without making a signing.

Are they signs of incompetence?

The situation with Conte is simple. He takes an elite squad and revs them up to get them over the finish line. So a elite team in 3rd with an underperforming squad he will get 1st next season followed by a meltdown the season after. He is a world class very short term manager.

For us he got us top 4 which was a big achievement but anything beyond that was dependant on getting Skrinair, Bastoni, Hakimi, Barella etc. you shop at Harrods then you pay Harrods prices.

This isn’t hindsight this was talked about when we hired him. So no we didnt back Conte not remotely. Different managers have different histories with different expectations, we didn’t get close to his. Conte was used as an emergency break glass due to Nuno option not becuase the club had the intent to win trophies with Conte.

Additionally some of the players we bought while I am a huge fan of like Bissouma are not players fit for Conte. It was another example of misalignment between squad and manager.

what a waste of money on players Conti didn't want or didn't need. lenglet instead of bastoni, that worked out!!! keeping Dier also another bollocks decision from Levy - stop fucking defending them from afar!! you have no idea, you really don't.
We as a football club are not geared to win, just be on the edge's. Levy is only concerned if we don,t make top 4 - this squad will struggle to be mid table.

Keeping all the mediocre/donkey players because Levy's asking ridiculous fees, there are players at spurs that should have been sold 2 seasons ago.
Charging extortionate prices for match tickets and season tickets
EIther every manager levy employed isn't good enough or Levy is the problem ? u tell me?

The original point was that Conte was given a pittance to spend.

The thinking is if a player comes to us the manager is backed.

Jol gets Rasiak, Defendi etc, "He was backed"
Ramos gets Pav and Bent. "He was backed"
Redknapp gets Saha and Neilson "He was backed"
AVB gets Dempsey "He was backed"
Poch gets Sissoko "He was backed"
Mourinho gets Gedson and CV "He was backed"
Conte gets Spence and Danjuma "He was backed"
