Had we won the Carling Cup and FA cup a couple of times in the last few years, how much more do you think the club would be worth?

Not sure.

Had we won the Champions League and Premier League how much more do you think the club would be worth?

Would either of them added as much value as the stadium, training ground plus the effects of monetary inflation over time? Not even close.

However, it's hard to argue that winning didn't contribute to Chelsea exponentially increasing in value and brand recognition. They were nothing before Roman and he didn't build a stadium.

But if you are buying this club now after those things have happened, winning stuff is one of the few ways left to increase the value of your asset.

Same with City. They were a less glamorous club than us and now fans all over the world. Bought them for 200 million and now they are worth 4-5 billion (depending on sources). Theyve made money and they've won at the same time.

Indeed.

Which comes back to my point that the only realistic way to increase the equity for any owners of this football club is to win.

Problem being that the current owners have already done ot via property investments so have much less incentive to do it by winning.

This is why we are unlikely to see them ever really try to win.

Winning would certainly enhance the brand a lot more than not winning anything at all.

Absolutely true, but i cant see how an investor, willing to pay billions to buy us, would have on their business plan 'win things' as how they see a return on their investment from us considering the competition involved in doing so and all of the things that can go wrong in the pursuit of a trophy.

Clearly, there would need to be more to sway someone into thinking buying us is a lucrative investment.

For one, we have a world-class stadium and infrastructure that will be used to generate, bar another pandemic, guaranteed profit.

We have had events and Champions League football in the knockout rounds and still not turned a profit.

Do any big clubs in football turn a profit? or is it all about store of value and increasing the equity of your investment? in some cases, money laundering or sports washing.

We don't turn a profit because we reinvest net earnings. We could turn a profit, easily, but we choose not to. Most large businesses are run in this way in the modern economy.

Plus some Levybots were claiming that ENIC is asset rich but cash poor - but Lewis just plonked down a 300M bond - of course he could have gone to the wrong side of town and put up his wife’s jewelry as collateral for the bond but anyway …
You seem to misunderstand key differences between placing money/assets in escrow to satisfy a bond and actually expending said capital. As long as Lewis doesn't do a runner, that bond is returned. As he doesn't intend to do a runner, there is no cost.

Not to get into defending Lewis and ENIC, I'd love to see the backs of them. But one key part of the ongoing criticism saga is that a lot of their detractors just misunderstand finance.

Now I wake up to the news Lewis’s has had his passport & yacht taken off him! My heart bleeds for the guy :ange-arms2:.
& also for the enic lovers who just can’t catch a break at the moment. Blow after blow! Resorting to having to defend, support & champion nasty rich corrupt & morally bankrupt billionaires!
:angryscouser:“at least we have a moral owners & are doing things the right way”

Paratici scandal
Worst league finish in years
No manager lasting a full season for 5 years
Called out as losers by serial winner Conte
15th trophyless season on the bounce
Golden boy Daniel admitting responsibility for the Newcastle humiliation
Star player wants out to win trophies
Disgusting unjustified ticket price hike
No new desperately needed centre backs we've been lacking for years.

The list just goes on....

And now.....
Main man Joe Lewis indicted for serious financial corruption

And all this in the last couple of months!!!!!

And still they're holding on and putting up some sham defence of these billionaire specialists in failure without a sporting bone in their body and who treat our fans with utter contempt and disdain.

Fascinating

But and here comes the but, it could be worse, we don't have oil slavers money or morally corrupt owners so we have been informed.
And yet , here we are, with our owner indicted on financial corruption charges, but it's ok because he doesn't execute anymore on a daily basis.
😂😂

If Gary Glitter became a billionaire and made a bid for our club would you want us to be taken over by him? :gallashmm:

Let's be honest, it's because he's English. English billionaire owners gets a free pass over Middle Eastern and American billionaire owners.

And before anyone jumps down my throat saying, "well it's an English league!" Do you guys think Joe Lewis gives a flying fuck about Spurs or the Tottenham neighborhood? The guy is about as English as I am.
