100 is meaningful out of 105. Not meaningful out of 14000.
Also, when was the poll posted? What was our form like? Had we signed anyone? Etc?
That's not how it works. It's statistical estimation. It's a poll from a sample of people. It's meaningful out of 14000 or 14 million. Whether it's truly accurate is another thing altogether but the majority of Spurs fans I know do lean towards the Levy out side so I would imagine it's right in so far as the majority are Levy out (although I imagine 4/5ths in favour is pushing it somewhat).100 is meaningful out of 105. That's incorrect. There's obviously greater room for error the larger the numbers, but it is still a valid number for polling. No, it doesn't.
there are 14000 members on this forum. To get an answer that was in any way representative of the forum members you would need to poll, at random, at least 400-500 people.
In this case, with an open poll where anyone who is interested can answer, the most significant data you can take from the poll is that 13,900 or 99% of people have chosen not to answer.
I'd bet a good 12,000 of those are practically dead accounts stretching back to 2012.No, it doesn't.

Over 100 people is generally accepted as the minimum acceptable number to get a fair sample on anything. Adding more normally gives diminishing returns.
This was originally a standalone poll that got merged, so it should've captured a fair spread of posters.
Given a binary stick or twist, I do think most Spurs fans would vote ENIC out. You could do a poll with more options, such as different types of new owners and other conditions.
The largest group are probably in the "I'd like new owners who are better but am just not that bothered" category.
But people that genuinely want ENIC to stay are surely in the minority.
14,000 is not a high figure in this context. The margin of error is nowhere near as vast as you think. It's cold numbers.Any number is a valid number in that case but the margin for error and reliability of the poll would essentially make the results lack any significant representative value.
Either way. It's clear that most of the people on the site who voted in the poll want ENIC out.
It's also clear that most regular visitors on the site didn't even vote.

How did you arrive at that figure?I say the margin for error would be about 5% but the accuracy of the poll would probably be down in the low 70%s
Pretty useless data in my opinion.
The world feels like it's splitting apart these days. It feels like everybody picks a side on different matters and the ones who don't are often ambivalent by choice. While I agree that this platform isn't the first place to host a reliable poll, I wouldn't be so sure that there isn't truth in the way the scales are swaying.Time has surely come to accept that this place is the destination for scoundrels that are too cunty for other forums and that have opinions far to the wing of their choice. Even middle ground here is choosing a side.
The last wider poll I can remember and have now searched up was the Supporters Trust one a couple of years back when 3% of respondents said they wanted ENIC to sell up now, from 6,000 respondents. 35% of whom were Trust members and another 35% were season ticket holders.
I doubt, in the intervening season or two, that number has increased to the heady 80% on here.

This forum is the last place I’d look for the temperature of the fanbase.
Yeah whole lot of wishful thinking.Looking forward to some games coming up so we can put this to bed until the next international window.
Pretty much where I am presently.I know there are a fair few in the same camp as me who don't actually hate Levy but want someone else to step into his shoes. He's been in too long.
This is a rough estimation based on my experience of being privy to those running political polls in the US.
The reality is - that only 140 people out of, let's say the 550 members I saw logged in to the site earlier - which is probably a low number due to the international break - voted - so about a 25% response rate the reliability is not very good because so many people who have had the chance to vote have not.
Even with a 5% margin of error, the results would still be, at a minimum of 65-70% out vs 35-30% in - there are just so many caveats that should be taken into consideration with 75% of people choosing to not vote.
All we can say is that of those who voted, most want ENIC out but most people asked do not have an opinion or do not care to share their opinion on the matter.
What secret threads are the other 500 posting in?!The reality is - that only 140 people out of, let's say the 550 members I saw logged in to the site earlier
