People would say he has no balls if he didn't turn up every game. He is there, people can protest, boo the team, show whatever emotion they want at the stadium in the knowledge that the chairman will see it and hear it. Say what you want but I am convinced most fans would at least respect that over a chairman that hides away not having the cahunas to show his face.
Agreed, Dammed if he does dammed if he doesn't , mainly due to the pigs ear he made out of football team

I said this in another thread..... rebuilding isn't easy nowadays, it's not quick, it takes time and a lot of luck.

How long have United been rebuilding for since ferguson? Chelsea have been less than convincing for 3 seasons now despite spending how much? City have no bought well at all the last couple of years and are paying the price for it now. Liverpool are going to struggle without Salah.... there is a reason he plays every single game... and when he is off his game, as he was after AFCON last season, they struggle.
. The point as I made is after 25 years we shouldn't need constant rebuilds there should have been a strategy put in place where there is a constant renewal with regards to players and managers. Also when Poch was here he said we needed a rebuild why is it still happening 4 managers later, I am sorry there is no defence.
None of this is to say we shouldn't be doing better, we should. Unfortunately the more experienced players we have in our team are not bringing rhe stability we need, but I do not think our overall recruitment the last few years has been as bad as people make out. We VERY clearly have a desire to buy some of the best young talent
We agree on something we should be doing better,
However I think our recruitment has been just as bad recently as previously. Brennan Johnson, Dragusin, Soloman and Vicairo all limited and probably not good enough for a top team.
Lets not forget Werner what a football genius he is proving to be.

With regards to buying top talent................as soon as they do well they want to move to win things as the club does not have the ambition they do.
Bale, Modric, Berbatov, Kane all moved on to be successful.

The jam tomorrow argument, I am afraid doesn't cut it anymore. there are no more excuses.

If we were relegated this year would you still think that Levy has been a good chairman?

Pedantically correcting someone who is expressing a deeply held, understandable grievance has the exact same effect though.
I'm sure you realise this but just can't help yourself.

There's nothing pedantic about calling out a childish lie, this is the theme of the thread...if you somehow aren't acting all hysetical towards the owners and dare to oppose some of the bullshit conjecture in here you're seen as an ENIC shill and Levy defender.

It's almost as if people can't have any middle ground in here and have to sit on one side or the other.

The staduim was not a 'con' IMHO. There is a difference between something being a con and something that hasn't realised its potential yet.

I personally just don't see the logic of investing that much in something to con people into buying season tickets.... only to purposely not deliver. They are making HUGE amounts of money from season tickets and people going on matchday - if they don't deliver the product people will stop going so much and they will have to lower the prices so staying competitive is essential for their business model.

It's already happening though. People like me with kids are now completely priced out. My Dad used to take me to the Lane every week and the chances of me doing the same are non-existent. The real fans are gradually being replaced by day trippers.

Now I agree that people are paying too much, I agree that the football team is doing shit right now and I agree that we will never be successful like a City or Chelsea with Levy in charge.

On that we agree completely

If you have a look, I'm not voting for him to stay and id be happy if he left, but, I also don't think we would somehow magically become successful if that were to happen - would we have a better chance - sure - spending money can bring in great players, make you more competitive..... but no one is ever spending the kind of money city did to buy dominance again - it's not happening.

Our profit margin and PSR figures suggest we spent a shit tonne of cash if we wanted to. Which would certainly help deliver success, but we won't.

...and we both know who's responsible for that...

With all the money Chelsea has spent the last couple of seasons, they finished 12th, 6th and picked up LESS points than we did in their last 5 games against the same opposition.

Like, I don't understand the blind spot people have about football and global sport. It's not for the fans anymore. You literally cannot support a team in a top division and want to regularly compete without accepting that your chairman and the business behind them don't give any fucks about you whatsoever and they never will.

World Cups in Qatar and Saudi, the FA allowing our league to be bought year after year after year by oligarchs and states that oppress their people in some of the worst ways.

I get the pantomime of it all, I get that having a single point of focus like ENIC or Levy is my more comfortable than accepting that none of us have any control over this stuff and it is never, ever going back to what it was..... but I have just moved past that

What will be will be. Getting mad, angry whatever isn't going to change a thing and while for sure our owners are complicit, they are just players in a game that is gone.

...and resigned acceptance and unwillingness to do anything is less than helpful.

All this crap about lack of naming rights, ticket prices and historical stuff and yet why is no one moaning that with our injury problems that we are now 19 days into the transfer window and not bought a single new outfield player. This is not supporting ENIC but criticising for something that actually affects the team and our fortunes now and in the future.

I think most of that criticism is being aired in the transfer thread to be honest, mate.

If I could scream @ Levy and Lange and that suit Munn I would. They are inept and reckless and frankly don’t seem capable and interested in the football squad at all.

Three players minimum first week of the transfer window was the requirement. Absolutely disgusting 🤮.

Constructive dismissal, an interesting take...

If you want to know what constructive dismissal looks like in real terms, just have a look at the way Daniel Levy and ENIC support Spurs managers over the years.

- Buying Nelson & Saha instead of Cahill & Suarez when Redknapp had a title challenge within his grasp.

- Not getting AVB any of his primary targets (eg Moutinho). But selling Bale from under him.

- Not making a single signing for 500+ days when we had Poch and our best team in decades.

- Then, when the club did decide to sign someone, they signed Gio Lo Celso, aka Mr Glass, instead of Bombproof Bruno Fernandes. And wasting all summer and an entire preseason negotiating on a bunch of signings, just to save a few pennies.

- Signing Rodon instead of Skriniar for Jose. A “win now” manager who wasn’t given any “win now” players before being fired one week before a cup final, just to save on the compensation payout.

- Hiring Conte, a famed “three CB” coach, and not buying him one single CB across 18 months and 3 windows at the club.

- Selling Kane and not buying a replacement for Big Ange until the following season, 12 months later.

- Entering 23/24 with just 2 CBs for Big Ange.

- Entering 24/25 with just 6 injury-prone defenders (and some make-dos) for 4 competitions for Big Ange.

- Seeing the most injury ravaged squad for decades and yet (as it stands) not make a single outfield signing for 19 days (and counting) as we see 2 more players drop down injured and let another one go out on loan.

And many other examples…

All managers are constantly asked to OVER-PERFORM and get more and more out of their squad, to just work to such fine margins that any misfortune with injuries or any slight errors in coaching/management and it becomes catastrophic. To finish above rivals that spend more, pay more, and don’t have to exhaust a paperthin squad every 3 days.

Yet it’s always the managers that are the scapegoats and not the owners running the club for the last 24yrs, our most barren run in our entire history 👍

I am utterly sick and tired of this endless cycle.

Really does make for shameful reading & that’s not half of the fuck ups that have happened under his tenure. I swear this half arsed approach trickles down into the players psychology

If Levy was in retail he would hire half the staff needed to do the job and pay them 20% less than market rates burning through staff at a high rate with constant bad publicity but would get away with it with the merchandise being cheap and thus getting price conscious customers. Sort of Sports Direct style.

In another life he was a sweat shop owner. That is his mentality and has always been his mentality.

The Levy family history and their behaviour in the rag trade will tell you a lot about how Daniel sees the business world.

No, it isn't. It might FEEL like it, but it isn't.

That’s more for the person on the receiving end to decide isn’t it ?

The fact is that regardless of where you stand we are failing and seemingly in decline & people are angry with some justification & if they are it’s up to them

Oh 2-0

When’s the hotel being completed , give us something to cheer about
