Heard today that the al Sabah family (Royal family of Kuwait) are wishing to get involved in football. No mention of us though, just my connection surmising. FWIW, they are a touch wealthier than the al Thani family of Qatar, but complete paupers compared to the House of Saud.
Kuwait is the most progressive of the gulf state isn't it? Much more gender equality and such compared to its neighbours.

If we are to be bought by a gulf state being owned by a "modern" one.

Samsung owners family are the richest with 11 billies. Probs not liquid enough to buy the club.
The Samsung wealth is also locked up in a web of ownership groups, share holders and bonds after a couple of scandals within the owning family. So yeah, a lot of it isn't liquid.

I highly recommend reading up on or watching some videos on it. It's quite fascinating.

Oh for fuck sake, predictably we now enter into the our Arabs aren’t as bad as their Arabs nonsense.

It’s Arab billionaires..nobody gives a fuck about gender equality and human rights as long as they fund the club to win trophies. That’s what people actually want.
The rest is just posturing.

Progressive, yes. Mainly as the other countries don’t really care what they do. They shy away from the political stage, so never really in the news. Have been in the past with one of them being caught in the FIFA scandals and another having to resign from (I think) the IOC.

Second richest Royals in the GCC though.

I always wondered why there is no Japanese or Korean owners in Europe when we see so many Chinese/Arabs.

Seems like they just operate differently in those 2 countries.

Probably also because TV money is bigger than match day revenue. Why build a 70k seat stadium for $1bn when you can build a 45k seat stadium for less than half, fill it to the brim every week no matter who is playing and still make the bulk of the money from Televised games.
Baseball is often a little different in that you have 81 home games. You won't sell all of them out, so if you go smaller you have fewer empty seats and can better utilize on-site staffing.

The stadium reflects the idea it was built with a big emphasis on the NFL and concerts. Maybe that's a good business decision but it creates something lacking connection to football. Here in America it is interesting that the new baseball stadiums are often smaller than the ones built prior. The idea is you get the fans closer and more into the game.
NFL stadiums are also getting smaller. Basketball arenas as well. Stadiums are converting significant areas from seating to "common spaces" and "premium spaces".

It's reflective of the fact that, as far as spectating goes, viewing sport is now better on TV than in the stadium. The trend is fewer but more expensive tickets offering "experiences" that can't be duplicated at home.

Zero chance of a Victoria Line extension to Northumberland Park or anywhere else, this has all been discussed before and deemed as not value for money.

What is planned is Crossrail 2 which would come through Northumberland Pk but that is light years away .

Date: Sunday 22 May 2011
London Underground has already evaluated the business case to extend the Victoria line to Northumberland Park. The outcome (weighing up the benefits, demand and costs) indicated that the investment would not represent value for money and could not be justified when compared alongside other projects which would deliver greater benefits to London.
