I understand what you are saying but your point is slightly askew!
Firstly I didn't suggest one player, I said 2 instead of 3 and again it's all about the due diligence of the scouting/recruitment side of things. How in-depth did recruitment look into N'Dombele's character for example?
My original point was you can't blame Levy, who knows little to nothing about football and footballers, he only signs the checks on the aboves recommendation.
Not defending one side or the other, but the idea that anything is done as a smokescreen is absurd.
Levy isn't wasting energy trying to obfuscate anything about our finances from supporters (and certainly not wasting transfer fees to do it). Our happiness with him as chairman is certainly not something he gives 1/2 a fuck about. He works for Lewis - that's the 1 person whose judgement of his work matters.
For fun, which players should we have bought for £140M and £400kpw wages should we have bought that were, at the time of transaction, considered better players?

I'm not employed to select, scout players and that's my point. We should do better or are you suggesting Johnson, Solanke etc were the only players available and what I'm suggesting was never an option, i.e, there were no better players available in the 75m+ bracket for 200k a week?

I see you’re not a fan of all statistics , just those that suit you . You go back 60 years and ignore context relating to your stats , he goes back 15 years and you want context . He is right you really are not very good at this
They also went out and addressed problem positions with best in class players.
We'll never do that under the current ownership.
He doesn’t go back 15 years. He selects our best 8 years relative to them and focuses on league finishes. Even when we were better on the field, they still spanked us under AVB and won a cup.
If you ACTUALLY go back 15 years, Liverpool have 1 champions league, 2 league titles, 1 FA cup and 3 league cups. We have won the Europa league.

I’m struggling here because it’s fast becoming not worth my time.
I think whatever way its spun the overall point that should be made is with largely similar resources we are very very far behind the other clubs.
With all the other big teams in the Pl you really get the sense that they are doing every single thing possible to make the team that takes to the pitch as good as it can possibly be.
Our lot simply 'try and do what they can'. They make an absolute mockery of our club motto. Its an embarrassment.
They've tried there best, its grown so big but they don't have a clue what there doing anymore.
Said I few times but i fear for frank if its not a good start. Things are going to get extremely toxic if another cycle fails to get off the ground. The club have done nowhere near enough to improve us, its laughable compared to others.
We already have injuries and the seasons not started. Come end of September into october we could be hanging squad wise already through injuries and lack of quality.
Ownership is inadequate for actual football. Its an investment firm and it deals with numbers. Simple as that.

We are pretty much 30 years of CL money, or massive cash splurges by new owners, behind those who we now, remarkably, are closing in on financially. And the only reason you are able to question the owners for not spending what those bigger, richer teams are spending, is that the owners got us to the level we are now being compared to those teams.
This is an incoherent statement.
If we are 30 years behind them, how can it simultaneously be said we are closing in on them?
The reality is that the only thing between us and literally any other club on earth, between us and becoming the single best football team on the planet, is the ambition to reach out and achieve it. There are approximately 10 clubs for whom that's true, and we're one of them.

And yes I pat them on the back for the infrastructure, that something an investment firm is good at (bricks and mortar, assest acquisitions) but there clueless with the football aspect.
Its like a business CEO. Somebody who is perfect for a business at one point in time of its journey and growth and is successful suddenly becomes no good, find him/herself struggling and things slip abit. That's when change is needed for a new person with fresh ideas and a new direction.
Even with a turnover of 1 billion which would be the biggest in the world we would not win with enic, no way. We may just make top 4 most seasons.

August 4th-10th - Monitor. Lange requested to remote work from home this week.
August 11th- 17th - Continue to monitor and see how Ben Davies, Bissouma and Richarlsion get on against PSG.
August 18th -24th. Panic. Bad start to the season. Attempt to contact Eze and Simons but too late. Lange is back in the office. Sign an unknown Asian kid to show we are doing something and sell Bissouma for less than 10m after a poor performance.
August 25th - until deadline. Loan out the Asian kid that we signed a week earlier and Ali Gold bigged up. Sign James Mactee on deadline day. Lange nearly made a balls of the deal so Levy jumped in to get it over the line. Terminate Bryan Gill's contract after being unable to offload him.
