Guessing here as the figures are giving me a headache trying to find them - but, I'm presuming it must have been around 2000-2005 where ENIC took over the club and took it off of the market. Spurs signed a fair few players, I am assuming these would have been funded by ENIC, if I am incorrect, somebody please correct me.

I'm sure they did have to invest a little dosh to get us stable back then but that makes it all the more frustrating when we do qualify for the CL and these fackn cunts at the top table decide Nelsen and Saha is adequate strengthening. ENIC has missed a fair few opportunities to really cement us as a top club in England and now with the chavs and especially abu dhabi here I'm sure they know it.

Isnt it better to be self sufficient?

it is kinda nice

BUT

personally I like kicking ass taking names and winning abit more. Football is about glory not balancing the fucking books.

I want to see Tottenham a club I've supported for close to 25 years winning trophies and challenging the big boys on and off the pitch. Under enic our trophy haul has been historically shit and it's becoming increasingly obvious to me they have no real ambition to take us any further than they have.

If they build the stadium I'll gladly admit I had them pegged wrong but I'm not convinced they're gonna do it.

finished school 5 years ago with two A's and a B at A level mate. The closest you've ever come to B's and A's is when you're shagging sheep.

I got two A's and 2 B's too!! Dont bother mate, I hope some of them are just trying to wind you up as it makes no sense what people are saying

I do concede that 2/3 years ago we took ages to get a striker, that did cost us no doubt as we missed the extra firepower, but people cannot say that now, 1) there are no targets guaranteed to improve us, and 2) we spanked a load on one last summer, who is our 2nd or 3rd choice and we are only playing one at a time

I think the problem is by taking anyone, would you want to take being Leeds or Blackburn and then the inevitable collapse?

I'm not totally dismissing the argument 'to have won it once than to have never won it all' but with success there is always a price, that might mean more fans who are 'hangers on', rising ticket prices, big foam hands with Daniel Levy's face on it, stubhub ticketing and no standing in the ground.

I would love to see us win the league but I can't really see that happening unless we are really prepared to sell our souls, then would that really be Tottenham Hotspur winning the league?

I know I what you mean but at 35yrs old and looking at the generation coming through and the world we live in, then for the greater moral good I could say I love Spurs so much that I'm just pleased they exist and must stay a very prudently run business no matter what or, maybe now accept that if you can't beat them then try and join them to some extent.
It makes me laugh that everybody thinks we have to become Leeds or Portsmouth to progress or, even Blackburn or Newcastle. At the right times over the past few years, we have all identified opportunities and what reasonable extra we might need to exploit them and take a further step forward, reaping all the benefits (financial ones included) that come with it. Before anybody says it wouldn't have been certain, we could've definitely given our probability a huge swing for sure and not been looking at financial oblivion or extinction.
We MIGHT have a coach and some players that will realise a lot more potential and get us back near to where we were 4-5yrs ago, which you have to say seems a long way round to get back to a point we could've pushed on from already but it's a tougher ask now year on year.
For those that go on about the way they run the business, Levy and the owners should still be accountable for major decisions that have seen us go backwards on the pitch - we are a football club too you know, poor football results for too long will equal a poor business.
I'd like to know how we keep missing taking chances on the likes of Bony, Suarez, Michu, Benteke when they're £2m, £8m up to maybe £16-18m and then the always-play-safers talk about the risk of spending £10m, £20m or £75m to get them when others have risen their stock, the point is we should be getting one or two of them first time round like we did Berbatov. We're doing that even further down the food chain now with Dier, Yedlin and Stambouli for peanuts, fingers crossed!!

it's no wind up really

fact is uncle joe could invest abit of dosh into Tottenham for a change instead of buying yachts and building state of the art hospitals for the rich

Well hopefully he is - its not going into the team though at the moment its the stadium.

As Woolwich showed, you can't do both easily and they built theirs as a solid Champions league team, so we have to tighten our belts even more than they did as we dont get the relative income they did.

Good points from 78 and Nanty. You see, for me, if Spurs fans could be happy with what we had and we had a buzzing stadium, then a lot of our on field problems wouldn't matter so much. It would still be a great event to go to the Lane, but alas, etc.

ok but our owners net worth is 4 or 5 billion

a nice new stadium is 4 or 5 hundred million

can the cunt not just give us an interest free loan?

we build it and pay him back over the years whilst generating a far better income in a much bigger stadium and increasing the value of his investment
