This was, iirc, also the season where we signed Saha & Ryan Nelsen in the January window whilst we were right in the mix. They were both past it & not useful additions to a club challenging for the title-as we were at that stage. Throw in a couple of injuries & that could be as much of a reason why we didn't get 3rd spot or better as anything 'Arry did.
Its not what harry DID its what he didn't do. He's the fucking manager, he manages the players. Anyway its all well and good saying we only signed Saha and Nelsen... but we did alright without them. And we did alright when we beat newcastle 5-0...

Harry's choice 100% to sign these players. "He was happy with the squad". Harry choose those players, he was the manager.
Jamie Redknapp confirms this in this interview before the QPR game, here is that interview:Exclusive - Balotelli will give Liverpool ‘completely new dimension’, says former Reds ace | talkSPORT

Well Harry says in his book that to be serious about winning the title "we had to act more decisively & boldly than that" (re Saha). Don't get me wrong, he is a cunt but I tend to agree that Saha wasn't the answer for us.

I agree with you, as all fans do, those singings were shite.
The quotes you refer to you could be taken as an admission to that, rather than suggesting it was the boards fault for not "acting decisively". Jamie Rednapps quote in that interview suggests that the club supported him and it was his old mans decision, no?

He should have kept his thoughts to himself & not been drawn into making a comment. But I don't think he was tapping the FA up privately & there was nothing cloak & dagger in it.
That's his biggest problem in my opinion, he can't help himself but say something. His willingness to spread rumours and get involved with Jim White on Deadline Day says it all for me. He has no respect for other teams' players. But he knows the media love him and won't spin it that way.

He says he thought we had to act more decisively than we did. He isn't taking any blame:harrylol:

and I suppose the players had nothing to do with it ?

My point is that every radio station, and every paper had Arry as the next England manager, regardless of what he may or may not have said. Without doubt this must have had an effect on the players psyche
He should have put those rumours to bed by saying he is Tottenham manager until at least the end of the season and that is that. No ifs. No buts. No doubt.

But no - "I couldn't turn that job down"..."Brendan, wanna be my assistant when I get the England job?"...

It's any fucking wonder the players heads were turned - the managers' certainly was!!

He should have just said fuck all. If he'd said "I'm spurs manager- until the end of the season at least" that would've caused outrage too with all the rumours flying round. His problem is he can't keep his mouth shut when he ought to & is often too busy being best of chums with sports journalists.

Or that, yes. Either one.

But all he did was fuel rumours by saying he wouldn't be able to turn down the job were it offered to him.

Regardless of his ability as a manager and Spurs record, I felt that was highly disrespectful to the club and thought we was right to sack him.

He's old school, but I cannot see how the England job modern day is bigger than being a Premier League manager, let alone at a top 6 club with European football.

I can't imagine Fergie stepping away from Man Utd to manage Scotland, nor Wenger with France.

People should remember it was Harry that raised our expectations in the first place.... We bottled it no doubt, but we do actually sound a bit pathetic the way we seem to be demanding 3rd place in one breath, and in the next, claiming the manager was clueless tactically.

Isnt it widely accepted that "Levy doesnt spend"....he certainly didnt give Redknapp a kings ransom to build on.

Yet Mr "run around a bit" SHOULD have got 3rd.

And AVB had a better season by coming 5th...

I think were Enic fuck up massively is our scouting system or even our youth policy... That way we can be sparing with out transfer budget as we'd have players coming in from the academy . Looks at Southampton , Dortmund etc. it is possible. If you wish to live buy a net profit look at other means of finding players .

I don't actually know who our scouts are bar Broomfield , & that whole getting rid then rehiring was a tad dumb.

It's seems a very slapdash attitude which is worrying as we all know Enic's history

Harry owed Tottenham very little tbh

standing by him in a trial were he was found innocent lol

and he blatantly should have got the England job

island's full of absolute stuck up their own arse know it all cunts though so he didn't

how was your world cup wankers? :harrylol:

You are right mate about this trial nonsense. I find it hillarious when people keep bringing this up " we stood by him "....he was found to be fucking innocent....lol

Also people bitching about what he was like infront of a camera...what is this obsession some spurs fans have how our managers come across in interviews? who gives a monkeys fuck, it's how they get the team playing that counts. During avb's reign some spurs fans were creaming themselves about how well he presented himself in interviews. Nevermind the fact he didn't have a fucking clue what he was doing. As long as he is good in front of the camera. Lol

I just can get my head around these people that keep banging on about how we never finished 3rd. Yet it was harry that got us into that position in the first place...very strange way of thinking....i think for years to come when the subject of harry comes up, it will always divide fans opinions, which is odd intself, because he was the best manager we've had in decades. But let's hope potch can put all this nonsense to bed by becoming our best ever manager.
