You can see Hugo shout as the ball comes in. Dier focus's on blocking the attacker getting to the ball rather than attempting an unpredictable clearance (we saw at liverpool last night what happens when a defender stretches for a ball in front of his goal).

Dier did his job, Reguillon fluffed his. No way is that goal on Dier.
Disagree

He should have hoofed it into Row Z and argued with Hugo later!!

Directly at fault for their second though

Sure, on the 2nd goal Reggie lost his man, Holjberg didn't track the runner, Aurier got wrong footed, Lo Celso slid into no-mans land and Toby ran in the wrong direction.

But sure, all on Dier.

With your logic shouldn't we just blame every goal on Llloris since he didn't save it?
Simple facts - a half decent defender clears the ball for the 1st goal - dier didn’t - for the second goal again a half decent defender clears the ball and dier doesn’t giving the striker a tap in - elementary defending -elementary factual logic - dier is no centre back because he does not understand the basic concept of defending ie defend your goal!!!

A lump of a player Champo level at most

Samson had his hair. Dier his appendix.

Associate Professor Heather Smith studied the intestines and environmental characteristics of 533 different mammals as part of their research into the evolution of the appendix.

Some animals, including primates, wombats and rabbits, have an appendix, while others, such as dogs and cats, do not.

They discovered the appendix had evolved 30 separate times in different species, and almost never disappeared from an evolutionary lineage once it had appeared.

Animals with an appendix have a higher concentration of lymphoid tissue in their gut, which plays an important role in the immune system, the scientists found.

This tissue can stimulate growth of some types of beneficial bacteria, which can be stored in the appendix, so it is not all lost if the creature suffers an attack of diarrhoea, it is believed.

Associate Professor Smith said it may take people who have had their appendix removed "slightly longer to recover from illness, especially those in which the beneficial gut bacteria has been flushed out of the body,"

When he first signed he looked an excellent prospect for both us and England. Go back to when he scored a free-kick against Russia in the World Cup in 2018, when he actually had a head full of hair, and he looked the dogs bollocks. I seriously don't know what happened to him and how he suddenly got so average. Now he's just a versatile carthorse that should be playing for a club like Millwall.

It's almost like he shaved his hair and suddenly became what he looked, pretty shit!
Should we call him Samson? ;)

Dier is very much the bodily eqivalent of an appendix funnily enough: no longer needed, serves very little purpose, can cause all kinds of problems, and most people would be rid of it if possible

Got nothing personally against Dier but firstly he is no longer good enough for midfield. Compare him to biggish midfielders like Henderson, Shelvey or whoever else and he would be at the low end of that group in my opinion.

Mourinho tried him in defence and we saw sone positive early signs but of course and in typical Spurs style he floundered back into mistakes and mediocrity.

If this club wants to move on then some players need to do the same thing or we will go further backwards. No doubt at all.

Dier, Alli to a large extent, Aurier, Lamela, Sissoko and Winks are now all in that category. One may avoid the trapdoor but more than that and it will be see us back here saying the same sh!t.

No, no, no.

Dier is the manifestation of an excessive regime, which caused constriction of key pathways on our squad.

He should have been rested and nourished out of the inflammation, but he was told there was a way out of his short term malaise by Dr's with scant concern for the wider, longer term, implications for a human being striving to stay an elite athlete...

Wonder what (post operation), those words above manifest in Diers experience???

Describing the immunological and microbiotical changes in the appendix during acute and chronic inflammation of the appendix, this review suggests that this association becomes increasingly plausible. Sustained by the distinct composition of cells, molecules and microbiota, as well as by the ever more likely negative correlation between the appendix and ulcerative colitis, the idea of the appendix being a vestigial organ should therefore be discarded.

Appendiceal lymphoid follicle. Indicated are the distinctive areas of its most important constituents. 1, Dome epithelium: intra‐epithelial lymphocytes; 2, mixed cell zone: T‐lymphocytes, B‐lymphocytes, macrophages; 3, mantle zone: small B‐lymphocytes; 4, Germinal centre: centroblasts, centrocytes, follicular dendritic cells, macrophages; 5, T‐cell area: T‐lymphocytes, macrophages.

Any Doctor who calls this vestigial should be taken out back and metaphorically shot.

I do get the feeling they'll try to move on Aurier, Lamela, Sissoko and Winks. We're stuck with Dier I'm afraid, and Dele will likely be staying.

The decision to take out his appendix may have cost the club £25-30M, that is my estimation of the drop in value, to that which it may otherwise have been if he had been given elite recovery tools and rest.

But, hey, that doesn't fit our worldview, so FUCK OFF DIER...

Sheesh.

He was fucking wank before then.
The only decision that cost us money was not selling to United when they sniffed.

Pretty sure he'd been suffering for 18months, like most of the squad.

Agree BTW, he's never been all that, except his first season as DM, dropping back into a three, was glorious for a while and we strangled nearly every team of meaningful possession.

Double this info down, with the below, we are getting to the heart of the matter:

Treatment of mice with EPA (30 μg/ml), DHA (30 μg/ml), or siamycin I (5 μg/ml) in drinking water significantly reduced the colonization of H. pylori by 96, 78, and 68%, respectively. In addition, they prepared 10-hydroxy-cis-12-octadecenoic acid (HYA; C18:1 ω-6, 23) from linoleic acid by bio-conversion with Lactobacillus plantarum and showed that 23 also suppressed the in vitro growth and in vivo colonization of H. pylori by blocking the futalosine pathway. HYA was also effective against Helicobacter suis, which causes the formation of gastric lymphoid follicles [15], when 23 was added to the drinking water of a mouse model of H. suis infection.

Dier was cheated by the club, which demanded intensity, day to day, yet we can see from the type of malaise he encountered, and, subsequently endure, he has clearly been poorly nourished, as key nutrients he needed were missing, leading to this situation.

Agree we should have sold him Utd, on SpursCommunity I started a thread on intensity, that there was at best a 3year cycle to most players in that environment, so quick, constant turnover to bring in young fresh 18-22 year olds was key to Poch having longevity (or any team wanting to play fast aggressive football)..
