My boys Glentoran get a tie with TNS. Bloody Covid, another potential good trip goes amiss (following on from last season’s EL tie with Motherwell).
By the way jesting aside those names aren’t any more obscure that those that were in this stage of the Europa League last season. It’s a weird feature of the new set-up that the ECL is designed to give certain mid-tier countries better access to group stage matches, but the “lower” third or more of countries have all their formerly EL representatives shunted out into the ECL. So for the likes of Northern Ireland and Wales, where there would have been three EL representatives, it’s now three ECL representatives instead.
So, oddly, UEFA annoy the ‘new’ ECL representatives from the “top” countries , while also relegating all those from the smaller countries out of the EL.

The benefits of playing in the competition also benefits the players. Appearance monies for these matches considerably improve player earnings especially the fringe players not getting in the PL team.
For all those fans that are grateful at the end of the month for Overtime payments , for some players this is the same although maybe the likes of Kane is not bothered but Skipp would be more so.
Blood the young using the competition. Otherwise, a Waste of time, what the fuck are we going to be doing flying to Azerbaijan on a Thursday and then having to rush back for a game on Saturday.
