Well that's the thing, the one thing a DoF does NOT do is set his own budget. If Levy won't produce the funds to get Conte, that's the business Paratici has chosen.

But if he's the man that's going to be overhauling the squad, it should be his call who is going to coach them.

My suspicion is that Paratici is less a DoF than a well-connected continental guru whose task is to smoke out under the radar deals as financial problems roil continental leagues. Which would be a pretty nice thing to have and a savvy move for us to make.

Trouble is, we're still then stuck with a terrible chief scout analyzing those opportunities, a megalomaniacal bean counter making a clusterfuck of all the negotiations, and a powerless head coaching position of a decaying squad that no one in their right mind would want.

Eh, Rangnick doesn't make as much sense as people think.

He's a mediocre albeit highly influential manager who was given oversight over an operation that was a blank slate for him at a level of financing relative to the competition where he basically couldn't fail. Salzburg is just Austrian Man City, and Leipzig is more or less just cheating the German football rules.

The Rangnick revolution has already happened in English football. Everybody plays like that now.

And for two he had it a lot easier in Red Bull's setup. They're continuing to do the same stuff without him.

Campos is on a heater, there's no doubt of that, but the PL is a different animal.

This juve guy doesn't have the most impressive record, but made sense since he has a good relationship with Conte, now we've fucked up the Conte appointment this just makes no sense now
