Revealed: Tottenham's Fabio Paratici stance amid interest to lure the Spurs recruitment guru to Italy - just two months after returning from 30-month ban

By MATT BARLOW, FOOTBALL WRITER

Tottenham will not let sporting director Fabio Paratici walk out and join Fiorentina without compensation.

Paratici is wanted by the club currently bottom of Serie A despite winning for the first time this season on Sunday, and is keen on the move, according to reports in his native Italy.

He has informed Spurs chief executive Vinai Venkatesham of Fiorentina's interest and told him to expect an approach but at the time of writing there was still no formal contact as required to reach an agreement to break him from the contract signed in October.
Spurs stayed loyal to Paratici when he resigned as their managing director of football in April 2023 after FIFA extended a ban for his role in financial irregularities at former club Juventus to cover the whole of world football.

He remained a visible figure at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium working on a consultancy basis after resigning from his official position.

When his ban expired this summer, he was reappointed two months ago as a sporting director, the title also held by Johan Lange. Venkatesham said they would work together to fulfil the ever-expanding requirements of the role.

'Together, Fabio and Johan will lead with purpose,' the Spurs chief executive said upon Paratici's reappointment.

'This is an evolution in how we operate. We're setting the foundations for sustained success.'

If Paratici does depart just two months later, it will not look good for Venkatesham, and it will also be a serious blow to Spurs' transfer plans in the January market if their senior recruitment expert was to leave with the transfer window about to open.

Fiorentina, cut adrift at the bottom of Serie A with only nine points from their first 16 games, picked up a shock 5-1 win at home to Udinese on Sunday, their first league victory of the season.

Their previous sporting director, Daniele Prade, departed the club by mutual consent last month.

This is from Galahad who is considered itk on COYS

“Things are not at all good behind the scenes. Fabio doesn’t rate or get on with either Frank or Lange. Whether he’s right about them or not, he’s not gone about it the right way. Vinai should have sorted it but he’s too preoccupied with being liked to put a stop to the backstabbing. Farce.”

Pinch of salt and all that shite but clearly things are good behind the scenes if Paratici wants out after 7 fucking weeks

Cheers. Always dubious about this sort of stuff but its obvious something isnt right. He had offers from Italian clubs before we reappointed him but he obviously felt we were a better move, then 7 weeks later he's taking over a team bottom of Serie A. Another clusterfuck. Genuinely this sort of shambles is how bigger clubs end up like Everton did for 10/15 years. Consistent bottom 6 finishes with an occasional relegation fight. Bad appointments, infighting, terrible signings, shit attitudes.

If I was making up ITK stories, I’d be saying that Levy had agreed to give FP a job before he left and before his ban ended. Then, when Levy left FP started looking for another job immediately because he doesn’t want to share control with Lange and Vinai wants some uber-corporate, data focused DOF that says politically correct things in board meetings

Anyone here could make that sort of post up. They’re just reading online gossip and joining a few dots and then hey presto you’re an ITK.

Galahad has a long track history of ITK and rarely posts, so I don't see how it can be attention seeking at all.

Do you really think, with Paratici wanting out after just a few weeks of taking the post, that things are good and rosy behind the scenes?

I have seen enough executive departures in the corporate world, when someone leaves their post after a matter of weeks, it's because they have had a falling out, and think where they are working is a mess or they are surrounded by incompetence.

It's pretty much fact that Frank was Lange's hire. Lange and Frank are close. Paratici is naturally the odd man out. Occams Razor mate.

100% you can see a situation where Frank and Lange are out voting Paratici on important issues and Paratici feels sidelined. Hence why he is leaving.

And I am sorry, but I find it entirelly believeable that FP thinks Frank and Large are dogshit.

We have seen enough evidence on the pitch this season that Frank is dogshit. I'm not surprised FP also has this opinion.

And we have seen enough evidence that Lange is a useless fucking gimp. From him fucking up the Tel presentation, to signing a bunch of kids, most of them who have flopped. Then pushing to hire his mate Frank who by all accounts has been a disaster so far.

I'm not so much worried about if this is true or not, I think it's very plausible.

What I am concerned about, is our club is left in the hands with these two useless cunts in Lange and Frank, and how much damage they may do to the club this season. If Vinai is a passive CEO, who is going to make the decision to get rid of them both?

Hopefully the Lewis's get involved.

You are ignoring the fact that all of this is the most likely situation though. Why on earth do you think FP is leaving weeks after taking the post if it isn't because of Lange and Frank? lol

Well FP is just as dogshit as they are. This squad is made up with a lot of his suggestions so he too has to take responsibility for how bad we are. Both his managerial hires in Nuno and Conte didn't work out. He wanted Gattuso until all hell broke out on the internet and the club had to choose someone else

FP is not the Don that many fans believe him to be. The guy needs to look at himself before he starts throwing shade at others

Paratici isn't the messiah no, he isn't perfect. But are you seriously telling me you'd choose Lange and Frank over FP? If I had the choice I am booting out Lange and Frank tomorrow, not even a second thought.

Remmeber FP pushed for Enrique in the past, and Xavi. Yes he also went for Gattuso etc

But since Lange has been here we've hired Ange and Frank.

Fucking dogshit. The players FP has brought in, have been made to look worse by the dogshit managers Lange has employed.
