so it's normal to hire a coach like antonio conte (that he wanted also in the summer but some bald man said no, to expensive).

try again
what are you babbling on about?

Even if Conte was first choice in the summer the second choice shouldn't be a coach that doesn't fit the criteria whatsoever for what was outlined.

Levy said an attacking coach that fits our profile and he went for the most defensive minded option known to mankind.

very polite

the second choice was fonseca
then he tried gattuso. nuno was a desperate move

if a DoF is able to hire one of the best coaches in the world, then people should have some respect for him

ok the second choice was Fonseca ....then Paratici pulled the plug on that after he was the one that wanted him in the first place.

3rd choice he wanted Gattuso who he then pulled the plug due to racist/sexist comments.

You're kind of proving my point. He has been all over the place.

no, I just proved that nuno wasn't the first choice.
people maybe don't understand that the top coaches (and players) are not very excited to join a squad
that plays the conference league, who's ambition is to arrive in the first 6, and whose most important player want to be sold

Sack this snake oil salesman.

Why the fuck are we even putting in official bids for players that have no interest in coming here?

Amateur hour

Is odd, we had Pau Torres then Kounde with the Sanchez swap. Agreed with both clubs and then players turned us down, you’d think you would agree with the players agent then agree with the club.

I think knowing that those players had no desire to come here played a key part in us placing bids that would be acceptable to their clubs. You can't just keep putting in lowball bids for the club to reject or fans will wise up to it, got to spice up your game of pretend from time to time...

Again; this won't be exclusive to Spurs.....

Perhaps it's as simple as aiming to getting both sides of the deal done and one taking longer to nail down than the other.

People would complain if they thought we weren't trying hard enough to sell the club to a player, so why take the first answer.......? .... Why not exhibit an eagerness by showing the player you mean business and have already agreed a fee?

There's likely no best order to do things...... Let's be frank; if a deal gets done, nobody (least of all the fans) gives a shit how or in what order.

It’s a good point but we always in the past agreed with the player according to media reports then tried to get the agreement with the club. Now under Paratici we seem to get the club fee agreed then try and agree with the player. So something does seem different.

Just waxing lyrical mate......... Not gonna say for sure in any one case, buy its often terms of player contract which get tied up last.

The main problem with Paratici is, he's got a boss called Daniel Levy, who will cockblock him any chance he gets. It's not that DL doesn't want to sign new players, it's that he'll only do it if he feels he's fleeced the other team. Also, DL doesn't care about us challenging for titles...his utmost priority is making money for himself and the owners. If we can do that and get top 4 by overachieving big time with a limited squad, he's the happiest man in the world. That's literally his everyday wet dream

That being said, Fabio has still disappointed so far, considering his pedigree.

Romero has barely played and there was that covid incident only a few weeks after joining.

Gollini is a bust. As is Emerson. Gil may come good eventually, but it'll take a good 2 years...possibly including some loans.

Aren't we over thinking this?

Surely you sound out the players agent beforehand and ask "we are going to put an official bid in on x date, is your player interested in principle to talk to us" that way we don't waste time putting in official bids only to be told the player has no interest whatsoever in joining us.

Then we move onto the next one, less wasted time and the club don't look like amateurs.

Technically you aren't allowed to talk to a player or his representatives until you've had permission from the club, and that permission is usually only given when you've made a sufficient offer. But we all know teams still do it. They think that if they have the player & his agents on side first, they'll be able to pressure the club into selling, maybe even cheaper

Yes; but not in the way that is being suggested.....

Players hedge their bets; no different to the way a buyer or seller might.... Agent's initial reply will often simply be "Open to discussion.... Let's hear your pitch". (Players and agents like a so-called "signal of intent" as much as the next man.)

As I said above...... Player terms are often shown to be the final piece of the puzzle.... This is not an "only Spurs" thing.

People complain when we don't get our ducks in line..... But to me this is quite clearly just a matter of clubs working on both sides of a potential deal at the same time.

(On the flipside; wouldn't similar complaint remain if we'd agreed a terms with a player only to find that the club decide not to sell..... Hell yes they would!)

All the talk of "looking amateurish" and "making statements [to the viewing gallery and oppo clubs/fans]" is so passe....... We're talking multi-million pound deals; image means little at that level of negotiation..
