To be fair that’s probably close to how much actually gets played if you take out all the times the games stop for corners, thrown ins, free kicks etc. In fact according to the below we currently play around 26-27 minutes per half of actual football for a total of around 55 mins per game.

Reminder that FIFA spent 30 million USD producing a major movie about the founding of FIFA.

This is how the movie synopsis concludes:
"Corruption within FIFA builds up over the years from Havelange's expansion efforts. As president of FIFA, Blatter is tasked to clean this up, for which he is seen as a controversial president. Many FIFA officials attempt to vote him out of office because of how incorruptible he is. The movie ends with a 2006 vote, in which Blatter is able to retain his presidency by cowing the corrupt members of FIFA, threatening to expose their ill deeds if they do not endorse Blatter and his anti-corruption campaign by voting for him as the FIFA president."

The worst part of that? Imagine writing a propaganda film that purports you to be a champion of anti-corruption. And then imagine you're so fucking corrupt and fucked in the head, that in the publicity materials you brag about using blackmail to win an election as evidence of how uncorrupt you are.

He's so incorruptible that he uses blatant corruption to attack at the heart of corruption itself.

Or, you know.... make football more accessible to the working class that has carried the sport since its infancy?

Football is at its core a working class sport. But ever increasing ticket prices has driven the working class out of the stands and into their couches if they want to watch. And now ever increasing broadcast fees and splintering broadcast rights will drive people to streaming because they cannot afford to keep up.

Don't produce more football. Make it accessible to all.

I dont know if the clubs would be very happy if Fifa or Uefa imposed ticket price limits. Very much for the idea though.
