For the love of God can we have a decent free kick.

Also somehow the commentator's always seem to react like the bad Kane FK is a fluke... to my knowledge he's scored 1 and that was 7 years ago. :kanehand:

It's pretty embarrassing and disrespectful to the rest of the squad that we are still letting Kane take free kicks. Unless he somehow bangs them in in training. The only possible explanation is that the rest of them are even worse but I'd find that amazing. You could go to League 2 and get better free kick takers than us.

It's like saying to the rest of the squad "He's our best player/highest earner so he gets to take free kicks even if he sucks at them." That's not how a TEAM is supposed to work.
But theyre actually musnt be anyone better. Dont see why son hadnt tried more but who else is there

According to my dodgy memory, we haven’t had hardly any success at free kicks since Eriksen’s early seasons for us. To begin with he was very decent and and scored fairly regularly from them, then it all dried up for some reason.

Free Kicks, Corners, Throw-ins, even kick offs need to be practiced at least a couple of times a week
we need to get a coaches who specialist in free kicks etc, they are a big part of the game
watch our free kicks we never have someone running down the side and croosing from byline
watch our throw-in's its always the same player runs short and knocks ball back th thrower, or thrower throws back to LWB/RWB position

when i coached kids/youths/women we practice throw-ins, kick offs, free kicks, we had 3 or 4 moves for each and everyone had a go at each position, for the first few sessions it added an hour to the training, but it was done before the season started, then we did it at the end of training ( we split into 3/4 groups and practice the lot in 15/20 mins) before they played a kickabout match
with our kick off move we either got a shot on target or a goal near every time

Regards to throw ins. Why don't we have a long throwin in the side. You can't be offside for a throw in. Now I am not saying we need throw long every time. But they can cause panic and I don't see why we don't have occasional go at using one.

Less than that. Eriksen's FK prowess was overplayed.
Just looked it up. He scored 8 in the Premier League, which puts him in the top 10 list since it started. He also scored free kicks in cup games. Pretty sure he scored one in the league cup semi to help get to the final under Poch. Again pretty sure in final he struct the woodwork from a free kick when it was nil nil. Typical Spurs.
Would like to see how many he scored season by season in all comps. I suspect it tailed off.

it appears to me as many coaches/managers do it the same/similar way they were trained
i was lucky my daughter was good footballer and hockey player so i got to see lots of different coaching/training drills, my lad was good footballer and cricketer so i told drills from the good coaches there
then I'd adapt the drills to fit other sports,
watch many of these training sessions how often are players standing waiting for their turn, instead of have 2/3 similar practices going on at same time, player takes turn (right foot shoot) run to next practice (left foot) run to next etc etc

So 8 in six years. That's not terrible of course but hardly proflic. The most recent I remember was against Juve before he left.

I thought he was going to be world class at that point…then he just forgot how to take dead balls overnight :eriksenserious:

i thought he scored or got lots of assists in early poch years, then it dried up
maybe memory has been clouded by commentator saying things like " Hudderstone is great striker of the ball" yet how many shoots caused the goalie problems ? it was mostly guy in row Z catch it
watched Hudderstone play for Hull other week still a lovely passer of the ball ( every ball was right wieght and easy for play to control
our players kick it so hard its not easy to control and stop ball by players foot

Clearly Eric Dier was chosen because he has SOME ability to score from a freekick but whenever he was taking them they were pretty woeful attempts most of the time.

It must of got to a point where our managers were looking at the players free kick ability and was like
"CHRIST....can anyone take a freekick well???"
Team meeting manager asks if anyone feels confident to take the responsibility of taking freekicks. Eric is the only one to confidently put his hand up and gesture that he can...
Manager with an exasperated look shrugs his shoulders "Alright Eric, you're our guy I guess.... Just make sure you get it on target.....!"

Rinse and repeat.
