Ex-Spurs Player Giovani Lo Celso

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Do you not think that Lo Celso could offer something, or owes us something?

Ange obviously saw enough to want to keep him, in pre-season he looked like this system might get the best out of him.

If a good offer had arrived he would have been sold immediately. Ange ignored him almost completely for the league games when he was on the bench, let's not pretend that he had big plans for him. He stayed because we couldn't replace him.

Ange put the reserve players into two very clear categories this summer:

1. You will not play and you need to leave - Ndombele, Reguilon, Dier, Lloris.

2. You are for sale but can still play a part - Davies, Perisic, Sanchez, Lo Celso, Hojbjerg.

Where is this cunt? His quality is needed in games where Maddison is flagging, he's the only real "like for like" replacement we have - even if Madders is levels above.

It's a position we will need to fill in January if this cunt can't get fit and compete.
"Even if madders is levels above"

Looks like you need to go to specsavers.

Who else in our squad can potentially play in the same position? What position do you think Lo Celso is?

NO.
What the fuck do you even mean like for like.
He does not have same attributes or abilities as Madders. Not even on much lower level.

He cannot score or assist to save his life. He is not able to do this on EPL level = he does not have same abilities. Binary - yes or no and in his case it is very clearly "no". Proven over and over and over again with return of 1 goal and 3 assists over 3 seasons and 2 months now.

But to answer your questions -
1) Who else in our squad can play the same position - well talking about abilities, PEH could do it better. He has proven he has goals and assists in him. Even if he is not as dynamic and much worse dribbler, he can at least help the team. He has basic shooting ability and on a good day with bit of luck he can make an assist as well. Proven by his 4 goals and 5 assists in EPL LAST SEASON. Reality proves conclusively who is better, mentally you can imagine whatever but it is just that - imagination. I'd rather see Gil or Kulusevski in this place. I'd rather see Bissouma shifted higher with Skippy taking Bissoumas place. I'd rather see Nile John given a chance. All of those options would give at least hope that something could actually come of it. Not just prove for 75th time that "nope, still absolutely nothing."
2) What position Lo Celso is - easy. His best position is out of this fucking club. He is not even close to our level and faster he leaves, better for everyone. I expect this to happen in January. Together with returning of Bentancur, sale of PEH we could hope to see more creative type CM to be brought as well to keep pushing.
3) Could he offer us something - no. Proven sooo many times. Not good enough to do that.
4) Does he owe us something - oh, he absolutely does. But he cannot provide what he owes. So playing him more is wasting our resources and as a result, he would owe us MORE not LESS. This time could be given to players who can actually contribute and who could be of any use in the future.

Pffft... Put your crowbar down.

Also see Gold quote above.

Gosh that is too boring and lame response, I'd expect something more from you.
I honestly expect you to give some evaluations yourself not just repeat words of others with 0 critical thinking.

Managers talk positive shit about players all the time.
EXAMPLE 1 - Go and see Ange quotes about Dier. He is trying to make it sound positive about him. But what happens in real life? He is not even in matchday squad. Soooo.... what's your guess, does he or doesn't he actually rate him? Now... when you look REAAALLYY closely, then you can see pretty similar trend here. He was available for first 2 EPL games. Got combined 0 minutes. So does Ange really loves him that much?
EXAMPLE 2 - Klopp once said something along the lines that "Adam Lallana is technically the best player I have ever coached". Yet he never made him a fucking starter for Liverpool. Now... what do you think, was it accurate and honest opinion or was it just trying to be positive and supportive towards his own player?

I know it's not saying much, and it's very thin endorsement, but I'd rather have Lo Celso come on for Maddison rather than Skipp and Hojbjerg. The latter two have their role to play but its in the other 2 midfield positions.

Clearly Lo Celso hasn't shown the creativity for us that he has shown in Spain but we don't have a better back up for Maddison at the moment. The other option is bring Kulu central and Johnson out wide but Ange hasn't shown an inclination to play Kulu centrally yet

Agree but when you scratch the surface and watch GLC, not only does he fail to impact the final third, he’s sloppier in the middle third with his passing than PEH.

In theory you are right, stylistically it makes sense but in practice he’s just not cut it in the PL

I think everyone and their mum want that.

But for that to happen he has to be available for selection.

All I can say about GLC is this, an injury on his first start is typical but let's see what he actually looks like in Angeball before making the final call.

Can always shift and replace him in January if it really doesn't work.

Let's give him a chance shall we. He looked very promising in pre-season, and the only game he had to impress this season was Fulham away in the cup with players not in the starting 11.

Unbelievable waste of energy talking about a nothing player..

Just fcuking bizarre.

Hjojberg poses more of a goal threat, holds the ball better and is rarely injured, and yet many would move him on.

And yet we still talk Lo Celso and his possible benefit.

Incomprehensible.

So what I’m going to take from this post is…. you don’t really rate Lo Celso? :sonhmm:

Yes we do have a better replacement.
It is Hjojberg. Who had 4 goals and 5 assists last season while playing from midfield 2.

That is better than more than supposedly AM GLC has produced within his EPL career.

I mean, do you actually look at the ability, or just the label in Wikipedia?

Will Lo Celso be on the bench against Luton, I doubt it. Will he play for his Country during International break, I expect so. Why do we put up with this?
