Ex-Spurs Player Giovani Lo Celso

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Sons never been average
People have fucking short memories...His first season was actually below average... 8 goals in 40 appearances...He actually asked Pochettino if he could leave to get more playing time but was told he would get more chances to play. He got off to a flyer and Pochettino said he was "a different person – he's more mature and he knows the league and he's settled in fantastically now." he went on to score 21 goals and the rest is history...

He was nowhere near "below average" his first season. Yes he had 40 appearances, but 18 of them he played less than 45 minutes. He only started 13 games in the League. 8 goals was a pretty good season for first season in England and only starting like 15 total games.

You've pretty much made my point for me, he got fuck all playing time, not unlike Lo Celso but he eventually proved himself after a season...

Where's the player this forum almost convinced me we have sitting, waiting for his chance?

The messiah that should start every game?

Looks to me like a player that wants to be involved in a team doing well, not a man responsible for a team doing well.

Give me Steed Malbranque over this phoney any day from what I have seen so far.

No one seems to be clear on his best position, other than he's brilliant in all of them, so start him as an 8, 10, 7 or 11 - just as long as he starts because it's the second coming of Hoddle..

Yes I'm angry and perhaps over reacting. No fucker out there today deserves a free ride.

I get hes new, and he hasnt started many. But he needs to do more IMO.

Hes an experienced Argentinian international thats played for PSG and starred in La Liga. I expect and demand more from him. Same with Ndombele.

Both 50m players. The honeymoon is over. Time to deliver.
I’m not impressed with Lo Celso but Ndombele is doing what a CM supposed to do. Praying he stays fit. Not sure what else you want him to do? Run the ball into the net himself?

I think he has great ability. Confidence seems to be an issue. And he hasn't built up an understanding with his team-mates yet.

His best position is a 10, where he played last season for Betis, his problem at the present is his movement, and Ali currently occupies that role, Le Celso will only really shine as a 10. Le Celso did play games for PSG as an 8 in a three and was underwhelming.

Personally i would send him back, let Erikssen go in this window, use Son as cover for Ali with Sess on the left if needed.

Lamela and Moura can rotate on the right, if Jose wants to persist with 4231.

Otherwise switch to 433, use the money saved on Le Celso to get a DM in this window and play Winks alongside Sissoko and a new defensive mid, alongside dropping Ali, and in the summer, move on Dier,Ali and probably Sissoko.

I purposely left out Ndombele as at the present i don't we can rely on him over the course remainder of the season, as more than likely injuries will plague him thru out.
We also need a right back like pronto............

I agree that we should send Lo Celso back. While he probably hasn't gotten the paying time he would have liked (mainly due to his early-season injury), he's had enough of a chance to show something, and has not shown anything. Being as he doesn't belong to the club, it's too risky to take time away from players we already have to try to get him more playing time, especially with our perilous spot in the league table. We need to work with what we have, not what might be. There's only 4 months to right the ship.

He's started 2 league games.

Id have been frankly amazed if anyone, who didn't truly have a pre season, managed to do much in just 2 league starts, out of position in a struggling team that's not suited to how he is used to playing.

Great post.

He is a player that sprays passes around and helps a team maintain possession and push into the final third. He also has very good passing in the final third.

We have become a long ball team. He is not useful in that type of set up.

Personally, I find our new style horrific.
