Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

His only good spell for us was during the second half of 19/20 when he actually played with grit. He played like Lamela, very aggressive. Minimal end product but he looked like a player who would be annoying to play against.

Watching the current version of Gio I wouldn't even think he was Argentinian. He plays with no fire. Too many of our players don't have the right mindset. We need players who sweat blood in every single game, no matter the competition and no matter the opponent. That is the only way to improve. Whenever they are asked to wear our shirt and step onto the grass they should play with heart and pride.

We employ a playing staff to represent us fans on the pitch, the players are there because we don't have the talent to go with our enthusiasm for Tottenham. It's very sad to watch so many players who clearly don't mind if Tottenham lose a match.

Giovani Lo Celso

At Real Betis, Giovani Lo Celso garnered a reputation for being one of European football’s most-promising playmakers.

That’s why they signed him permanently back in January 2020, months after he’d arrived in north London on loan.

But the brutal truth of the matter is that Lo Celso pales in comparison to other creators in the game.

He was so bad against Vitesse that clips have gone viral of his insipid performance in the Netherlands.

The 'why don't we get him to play like he does for Argentina' line is so tired now. He plays well for Argentina because he's surrounded by quality and he actually cares about playing for them so he fulfils a role. He's nothing special for them aside from the odd game, just a competent midfielder.

He goes through the motions for us. Picks up his wage and does the bare minimum for the club. And he doesn't have the natural physical or technical ability Ndombele has, so he offers nothing when he can't be bothered to play for the shirt.

The game vs Vitesse should have been an audition for him. Ndombele is in great form so here's his chance to stake a claim to the #10 position .. should have been everywhere on the pitch, demonstrating all his apparently great technical ability people say he has. He was crap. Woeful. Yeah Alli and Winks were as bad, but we all know those guys are done. Now we know Lo Celso is too.

He plays well for Argentina because he's surrounded by quality
His teammates quality has fuck all to do with the fact he barely even runs for us

Effort is not related to quality of your team - this is a shameless lie - stop making excuses for this fraud

He's been found out - the Argentinian Paulinho - another one in long line of ENIC cunt signing and millions wasted on dross

I said a few words later that he plays well because he actually cares about playing for them. Being surrounded by quality means he doesn't have to stand out in that aspect, but he can do the hard running for them and do a job.

I agree with you, he's a terrible signing who offers nothing to the team and seemingly has no interest in actually playing for Spurs.

Not as bad a player as some are are making out, but he's limited physically and technically and I'd happily lose him in January if a club would take him off our hands. Availability is my biggest issue with him, think he's pretty decent when played in a suitable position with a first choice xi around him.

If you actually watch Argentina it is clear to see he far from just good because he is surrounded by good players. He makes passes that are all in him and that nobody other than Ndombele for the few minutes a season he cares can make.

What does work for him with Argentina is he isn’t asked to get the ball from CBs who can’t pass, run with it past his two MF partners who can’t progress the ball and then pass into a forward group that usually has at least one player not close to good enough.

It is funny when people cry about PEH having to do the job of three MFers, which is complete BS, when he is a major reason GLC and Ndombele are forced to do too much to make up for his lack of skill.-

He should be sold and his fitness/availability is certainly a concern but his skill is something we should be looking to improve on and we have nobody on the team to replace it and are even less likely to bring someone in to replace him if he is sold.

Might look better in a better side than us, but it's still no excuse for him throwing in toss performance after toss performance. Argentina are far from a great side, despite having Messi, yet he plays consistently well for them.

I'd now prefer him to go over Ndombele. As for all the latter's faults, which he currently has plenty, you can at least see the obvious ability there.
