If you actually watch Argentina it is clear to see he far from just good because he is surrounded by good players. He makes passes that are all in him and that nobody other than Ndombele for the few minutes a season he cares can make.

What does work for him with Argentina is he isn’t asked to get the ball from CBs who can’t pass, run with it past his two MF partners who can’t progress the ball and then pass into a forward group that usually has at least one player not close to good enough.

It is funny when people cry about PEH having to do the job of three MFers, which is complete BS, when he is a major reason GLC and Ndombele are forced to do too much to make up for his lack of skill.-

He should be sold and his fitness/availability is certainly a concern but his skill is something we should be looking to improve on and we have nobody on the team to replace it and are even less likely to bring someone in to replace him if he is sold.
Fair enough, but he seems keen to take the game by the scruff of the neck and make things happen for Argentina, whereas that has been less and less the case for Spurs.

In fairness he was active yesterday, just sloppily so and trapped in a lifeless team performance.

We can’t rehabilitate him and Ndombele at the same time, that 10 role in the 4-2-3-1 is the spark for both of them. And Ndombele’s potential contributions are bigger and more needed.

Just a dumb spitball, what if Lo Celso was the false 9 for our ECL B team? He has goals in him, and it could hardly be worse than what we’re doing now.

Gollini
Tanganga Sanchez Rodon Davies
Winks Dele Harvey White/Nile John/Whatever
Bergwijn Lo Celso Gil

I'd rather stick Dele up front and cross my fingers with Gio in behind.... Dele ain't gonnan create shit and at least we'd still be going some way to "rehabbing" GLC in a position that has meaning for him and us.

If Winks and Harvey White (who is 20 and has played a bit of senior football at Pompey) could work as a double pivot, that might open up a few options.

Sounds a bit like a disaster waiting to happen, but what we’re doing isn’t working.

Yeh, that DM role is really quite the issue in there isn't it.....

iz futbal iz futbal - Suggested playing Doherty and putting Japh in there..... Not the worst idea in the world.

Also, a big bonus is he has Paredes with him which gives him more freedom to be inventive. When you've got someone like that working hard to tidy up it is going to have an impact.

I still think he was bloody lazy for us the other night though.

He was absolutely at the races today but just bereft of any quality.

He doesn't exactly ooze class even in his better performances for Argentina to be fair.

There's a player in there somewhere, but it sure doesn't seem like it's a gotta-have 40M+ pound player.

Contrasted with Ndombele who flashes immense rare talent but undermines himself in so many ways. You can see why scouts adored him, Lo Celso it's much less clear.

That attempted through ball to Son today? the easiest pass to make and like his spurs career he failed.
Everything with him is ‘cute’.

He had to hit it with the outside of his left foot because he can’t hit a basic fucking pass with his right.

Tanguy boils my piss but he’s light years ahead of this fella.
