Gomes on Lloris and AVB

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I've long suspected that a key reason as to why Lloris was unfairly benched by AVB when he joined the club was because Hugo wasn't an AVB signing. This is evidence that points in that direction.
One disgruntled player saying what you'd expect him to say, and "quoting" AVB, is hardly evidence. AVB would say anything to shift the focus of a decision from himself. Let it go mate, it's ancient history.

Yeah I think there is a big difference between saying he didn't ask for him and he didn't want him.

Lloris was eased in to the team over a few months, hardly unfairly benched IMO.

Obviously Gomes isn't the most reliable source, but if this were true it would be reasonable to suggest that spite was the main reason for Lloris's exclusion. I don't think there's any logical footballing argument to be made for playing Friedel over Lloris in a system based around a high line even though Friedel was in good form.

Swear I read before Hugo praising avb for easing him in to the first team.
But overall this shit is getting boring.

"Hugo wasnt an AVB signing" I completely disagree with that. I think that signng was a main proponent of AVB signing on. He fit AVBs high line perfectly. Without Lloris then AVB wpuld have been sacked much sooner or he would have had to change his style completely.

Of course it's evidence, assuming Gomes is telling the truth. It's not conclusive, but it's evidence nevertheless.

I have no intention of letting it go BTW, as I've had many arguments about this over the years, and if I'm proved right on this and my opponents proved wrong, that will make me happy, if only fleetingly. :)

Exactly, and it was an indication of what was to come with AVB. Assuming it was Levy's signing, what was AVB doing saying he didn't want Lloris. That smacks of poor judgment of players, and subsequently benching the captain of France, ridiculous.

What happens if you're wrong? :capouestare:

I'm not your opponent, but if it makes you happy, burst a balloon, and have a small Bells - maybe a bit of buttered toast. You are right. The warm feeling of victory might go out before your pipe though. Rejoin the fold brother Greaves. But digging about in history doesn't help us as we approach this crucial season.

Hi Joe, I wasn't particularly saying you were my opponent, as I don't know what your stance was on the issue at the time, or indeed subsequently.
As for rejoining the fold, I'm afraid that went a long time ago. I've had far too many Spurs fans get nasty with me both in cyberland and at the Lane, for me to ever feel again the 'oneness' with Spurs fans that I experienced as a kid in the 60s, and lasted pretty much till the 80s.
PS I don't smoke a pipe, but I do like whisky and buttered toast, though not usually at the same time, unless I'm very, very drunk.:)

Regardless of whether or not Hugo was an AVB signing or not, Levy got us an absolute steal here by getting us one of the world's best keepers for just 12 million. And if Gomes is right and Lloris wasn't an AVB signing, I've got to praise Levy for the deal even more.

So who does it have to be if not a player for it to be evidence? A signed AVB confession?

Lol. When are players who leave 'expected' to say specific things about managers and signings? It's very specific, and the AVB himself has already stated we brought in players he didn't pick.

It's proof positive he was what a lot of Spurs and Chelsea fans claimed he was. An empty haircut and a suit that mugged fans.

Why put your head in the sand with ex managers and player comments?

You won't learn anything if you ignore history.

Are you interested in spurs? Why do you come here?

Why not turn up to a players book signing and tell him none of that old shit matters?

What's your point? I thought AVB was a cunt. Are you agreeing with me?
