He can’t do fuck all about those two while watching the flight of the ball. He’d never have saved it anyway but Ndiaye is 100% interfering with him and is offside so it was correct decision. His two saves from Beto overhead kick and the double deflected shot are world class. Terrified me with the ball at his feet but had a great game again following on from Monaco.

He's had a couple and been scapegoated by muppets on many more occassions.
We’d have lost the Europa League Final if not for an athletic goal line clearance by VDV.

He was an excellent shot stopper, but he could also be a sieve and was panic inducing when he'd rush out of goal.
I don't feel like he's really gifted any goals in comparison.

I remember it somewhat different with him putting in several excellent sweeper keeper performances.
He'll never be great with his feet and he'll never dominate his box.
But he's the best shot stopper in the world right now. And that's the most important part.
We are giving up huge xG every game at the moment but he keeps stopping the goals. He's been insanely good and valuable this season.
It looks to me like he's being coached and he's taking things on board. Thank God Lost&NoClue's gone. Frank seems to be adding value.

A few weeks ago a lot of posters wanted Kinsky back in goal. If Vic is injured again, we will suffer greatly with Kinsky as the back up keeper.
And for each of those there’s plenty of successful sweeper keeper saves.
That’s the problem with operating a high line, the keeper is exposed and when they cock it up it looks awful,
Both Allison and Ederson have dropped the odd bollock too, but there’s plenty of times they’ve come out a long way off their line and made crucial interceptions as Hugo did too.

He's still making fuckups in the MLS. It isn't contained to being a sweeper keeper - he was just the epitome of unreliable. He could be world class one minute, and a complete donkey the next.
Being a keeper isn't like being a striker, where the hatrick negates the missed open goals. You just can't make mistakes as a keeper, and making dumb as fuck decisions was in his locker. See world cup final and the countless other times he's been as close as you can get to a real life version of mean machine

No denying his long passing is bang average at best but for a keeper that plays a lot of short passes (most in the league under Ange) he's generally pretty cool on the ball and tends to make the right decisions.
For comparison, the best keeper in the league (Alisson) has made more mistakes leading to goals in the league (2) than Vicario (1) since he joined us. Admittedly Vicario has got away with a few errors that probably should've led to goals, but this idea that he's calamitous seems to mostly be down to the corner nonsense in his first season that (imo) was more Ange and the ref's fault as he got zero protection.
He's got flaws but his reputation doesn't match the reality imo. He's a top 5 keeper in the league for me. The only ones I'd take over him are Raya, Donnarumma, Allison and maybe Roefs if his current form is actually his true level.

Gotta give him his plaudits! Played out his skin the last couple of games! 2 clean sheets on the bounce with some world class saves thrown in!

I reckon you must be ignoring the multiple occasions when a dithering Vicario pass has put a teammate under ridiculous pressure, he's lost the ball and a goal has been the result. It has happened several times.
That said, he's nothing like as bad with the ball at his feet as he was last season. He seems to be passing the ball out a bit earlier, with less dithering. He seems to be becoming a very good all-round goalie - not there yet, but heading in the right direction.
As for the person who has demanded apologies from anyone who has criticised Vicario - erm no! Apart from shot-stopping, he has been as responsible for our lack of self confidence as any other team member - and given his role in the team, he must be open to severe criticism when any aspect of his performance is below par. We can all name flaky goalies who have been responsible for bringing the entire team down. And conversely, we can all name solid, reliable, dependable goalies who have been the rock on which a team flourishes. This is what Vicario should be aspiring to. It's not enough just to be a good shot-stopper, especially if you're the one who gave the opposition their chance in the first place!
Thankfully, we can see green shoots at the end of the tunnel, suggesting there is a new dawn just around the corner.
