Player Guglielmo Vicario

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

What?
I reckon you must be ignoring the multiple occasions when a dithering Vicario pass has put a teammate under ridiculous pressure, he's lost the ball and a goal has been the result. It has happened several times.

That said, he's nothing like as bad with the ball at his feet as he was last season. He seems to be passing the ball out a bit earlier, with less dithering. He seems to be becoming a very good all-round goalie - not there yet, but heading in the right direction.

As for the person who has demanded apologies from anyone who has criticised Vicario - erm no! Apart from shot-stopping, he has been as responsible for our lack of self confidence as any other team member - and given his role in the team, he must be open to severe criticism when any aspect of his performance is below par. We can all name flaky goalies who have been responsible for bringing the entire team down. And conversely, we can all name solid, reliable, dependable goalies who have been the rock on which a team flourishes. This is what Vicario should be aspiring to. It's not enough just to be a good shot-stopper, especially if you're the one who gave the opposition their chance in the first place!
Thankfully, we can see green shoots at the end of the tunnel, suggesting there is a new dawn just around the corner.
Good post! 👏

Someone talking some sense!

He's been brilliant the last couple of games. Yes he's been shaky in the past and was all over the place in the Europa final but at the moment he's on top form so deserves the praise he's getting. I would say we are doing less of the potentially suicidal fartarsing around with the ball in our penalty area and that must be helping his stats.

How good is Vicario? More than just good enough to get by, apparently. It is hard for a fan like myself to isolate how much of the team's run of clean sheets is because of him and how much is really good defenders in front of him. But even during last season's run of injuries to the back line Vicario was consistently keeping the ball out of the net. For some, any keeper who isn't the best in the league isn't good enough, but that's not realistic. We have a keeper who is good enough to help us stay in or near the top four and he's ours on a reasonable contract which doesn't force us to make sacrifices elsewhere to pay him. And I like his intensity. If may lead him to take an occasional excessive risk, but he is very engaged on the pitch which is essential.

Why don't you just say you don't know?

...oh and thanks for explaining the rule that I need your permission before I post anything. I'll remember that in future.

Where did I say you need permission?

You responded to me, taking my post personally and I never even tagged you or named you.

Easiest thing to do is just say "I'm really sorry Guglielmo, I was wrong about you and conclusively proven wrong by you saving our arses again in Monaco and Everton."

May I post something, please?
