What were his "questionable ones"?

He's the highest rated GK in the Premier League this season.
Do you have eyes?

He’s had plenty of flappy moments, getting bullied in the box, poor positioning on crosses and questionable passing out from the back putting us immediately under pressure.

Statistics? Hmmmm, BJ had great numbers last season but shortfalls in his game were there for everyone to see.

I hope he continues the form of the last two games as if he plays like that week in week out we’ll do well.

Sorry - were you going to get around to naming the games he's had this season that could be fairly described in the round as "questionable"?

Or were you just thinking tossing out some vague mentions of certain moments was enough to justify your position?

Cos I'm afraid it doesn't. And yes I have eyes. I've watched every game this season apart from Bournemouth and I'm guessing that the fact that they put 1.45 xG on us from 20 shots and 6 on target for only 1 goal suggests that, possibly, that was one of Vicario's better games?

Wolves for one, but he’s had plenty of ‘moments’ through a lot of the games bar the last two.

Go back in this thread to mid-September and read the comments forward from there if you think it’s just my imagination.

This was only three weeks ago FFS! I suppose they’re making it up too?! 🙄

I was at Wolves. Vicario was fine. He made the save and was unlucky it ricocheted off Pal. Some might complain that he needed to push it out further. I am not one of them.

And if you think I'm going to be impressed by the thoughts of complete numpties who have never stood between goalposts in their lives - who then go on to demand a keeper not only make a stunning instinctive save from a ball that's taken TWO deflections on its way through to him only for Udogie to be second to the rebound like against Leeds well, I'm afraid to say, I'm not.

I consider these opinions to be rather worthless and it's becoming increasingly clear that yours is amongst them. I was expecting/hoping to be convinced (or swayed) by an argument that his awkward distribution and lack of command of his box somehow counts more than his elite shot-stopping. But you haven't made that argument. In fact you've made no argument at all which tells me all I need to know about your opinion on this matter. 👍

That’s your opinion and you’re welcome to it.

There are plenty of people that think otherwise, but of course you know best!

I don't necessarily "know best" but you have to actually provide an argument to change my mind.

As such I will continue to believe that Vicario's elite shot stopping more than makes up for his weaknesses in other areas - especially given the way Frank has us set up.

I’ve frequently said his shot stopping is his greatest asset, but excluding the last two games he’s been a massive flapper on a regular basis. Look what happened when he came for the ball in the Europa League Final and he completely missed it bouncing back into play off his face . If not for VDV’s athleticism that’s a goal.

All the opposition had to do last season was drop the ball on the goalkeeper and it looked like we would easily concede.

Personally I think being able to command your box and relieve pressure by taking the ball when you come for it is an important part of goalkeeping.

I freely admit that Vicario has been a world beater the last two games, but it’s two games!
