Ex-Spurs Player Harry Kane

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

To get Kane to resign, to maintain his market value. Now, of course, Kane gets a higher wage, but when these discussions take place, the club will obviously be made aware of what the player wants long term. We obviously don't make use of release clauses so much in the UK. but they fulfil that requirement on the continent (where I believe they are a legal requirement? Happy to be corrected).
There is a distinct difference between a release clause in a players contract and a buy out clause

A release clause is quite often used worldwide and yes in the UK. Players like Demba Ba when signing for Newcastle had a bargain £7 million inserted in his.

Buy out clauses are mainly used in Spain following from a Spanish decree whilst they are allowed it’s not compulsory. I understand that we in UK aren’t able to add these buy out clauses if for no other reason than they are contrary to our Employment Laws

Players contracts or clauses within are rarely released unless it suits an agenda. For all we know there may be a release clause in Kane’s contract, I doubt it but it’s a possibility.

I just wish we had a better recruitment system and scouts in place so that we would invest this money wisely and actually end up stronger from it, i think the reason so many of us are angry is because we know we will buy shite, and end up mid table again! I will be gutted if Harry goes dont get me wrong, but i just never saw him as the type to go to a plastic club! He is adored at spurs, by real fans, he is in for a huge shock if he goes to city!

I think that's the issue. Even if we do spend huge sums of money the level of incompetence behind the scenes on the football side would likely mean it would essentially be flushed down the toilet.

We need an entire rebuild of recruitment and football strategy, I don't see it happening because I believe our owners and chairman have little care for us competing with the likes of City.

Silverware and success is literally at the bottom of their agenda imo, they want just enough to keep us getting richer as a club, anything more is a bonus.

I will be gutted as well and I think moving to City would leave a really sour taste in my mouth because like you, I think them winning trophies is hollow.

However, I also realise that the way City do things is, for the most part, how you win in modern football and I don't see it changing, ever and that's likely how he feels to Harry as well.

When he said in an interview a few years ago that "as long as Spurs are progressing I will be staying and fighting for trophies" I still believe he meant that, the problem is not only are we no longer progressing, we are actively regressing and I think he knows it will never change.

I imagine Levy has broken many promises over the years and maybe Harry has just recognized what Levy finally is, a snake oil salesman.

However, I do agree, Harry didn't seem the type to want plastic success and I felt the fans thoughts and the club always meant more to him than that but you know, maybe that's just the delusional romantic in me.

Plus I hate saying it, it feels like we are just as plastic as City sometimes only without the trophies.

What I mean by that is, our focus on NFL, concerts and all the other bullshit unrelated to the game of football, the £60 ticket price for the Villa game, the ESL decision, highest ticket prices in the league etc.

We are one oil rich tycoon away from being the next City tbh.

If he goes I hope he hates life at that plastic club, with their shit rented stadium and their new generation of plastic fans, I hope he doesn't fit into the team, I hope he flops big time, I hope Nathan Ake takes a steaming dump in his kit bag, I will take pleasure in every sitter he ever misses and when he does click I will be annoyed by every goal he gets, I will take no pleasure at all in seeing him win trophies, quite the opposite in fact.

I'm fully aware that this is petty, but I don't care, by joining that club he becomes part of the problem, strengthening the scum that already hoover up most of the silverware before them and weakening the rest of the league.

And if he ever rejoins us like Klinsmann, Sheringham, Keane, Bale, Kaboul and Chimbonda before him, I will be his biggest fan again I'm sure.

Any chance this is an ultimatum to Levy, or a kick in the arse more specifically?

Make the effort, invest in the club or I'm off and you are in the shit?

Let me cling to something.

Man I feel sad about this. But I'm also slightly looking forward to a post-Kane rebuild. A new band of brothers who reckon they can go that next step.

Not sure we'll see a new Kane emerge in the next generation. He is one of those very rare birds. I just hope we can get an eagle to replace him and not a fucking puffin.

We have some promising young strikers in Scarlett and Donley so don't discount it.

Fans turning on Kane shows how sensitive some fans are. He's given his all to the club, the club has rewarded him with a chance to play plus loads of money. Nobody is the bad guy here but Levy for not investing more in the past seasons.

Kane can stay and rack up individual records while not playing in the CL or he can go to a bigger club and have a chance to win a trophy. Spurs will get a load of money for him and rebuild. Everyone wins.

Kane is not bigger than the club, my love for the club will always come first but that doesn't mean I need to cheer against or hate every player who wants to leave. Especially when Kane himself has never said anything negative about us in public his whole time here.

The more I think about it the more I think the racists will be the ones willing to spend most money on him.
Whilst city spend lots of money their record signing was De Bruyne in 15-16. £68.4m Next biggest is Dias for £61m this year. I'm not convinced that they will blow the kind of money we are all hoping H would fetch.

Chavs on the other hand spent £72m each on Kepa and Kai Havertz. I'm sure Roman would push the boat out for Harry if there was any chance of him signing for them.

Chelsea need him. Could easily see them offering Abraham and Hudson-Odoi. I love Kane and unlike a few don't blame him whatsoever for wanting something new. But if he did join Chelsea or any other London club for that matter, I wouldn't forgive that.

Completely agree. I'll not give a shit about him if he goes to one of the Manchester clubs, but would probably boo him if he goes to Chelsea.

Given that we, as the historically Jewish club, lost to the racist anti-semites of Chelski when Abramovich came calling I wouldn't be expecting us to get a sugar daddy anytime soon. Essentially we would end up being bought by someone just before they go bankrupt.

I can't blame him for going,
I can understand if he went to Citeh even though I would hate it.
I can't understand him going to United and I would hate to it.
I would hate HIM if he ever went to Chelski.
If he has to go and he goes to RM/Barca/PSG he has my best wishes though. (unless he plays us then I hope he fails big time!)
Given that it is likely he is going I can only hope Levy gets significant wad. No sloppy seconds, Abraham, Gabriel Jesus, Martial et al can all take a hike. They are not going to be motivated etc and are not good enough for their own club never mind ours.
