Ex-Spurs Player Harry Kane

You genuinely think the Bundesliga is champo it’s embarrassing
He’s also scored 57 CL goals

Bundesliga is decent but most of the teams play with a style that suits attackers down to the ground. You regularly get extremely high scoring, swashbuckling games as a result. It's high press, rock and roll football for most sides. When Andre Silva grabs 28 league goals you know something is up.

And Lewandowski is the central figure in the team that practically own the division and score an insane amount of goals in the process. Seriously they average like 90+ goals a season and he's the penalty taking spearpoint, of course he gets insane numbers. They've also probably been Europe's best side over the last 3-4 years.

Lewandowski is a monster of a striker though, only someone properly deluded would argue otherwise. One of the very best of his generation. But you have to look at some of his numbers with at least some context.

Out of interest would you use many of those same arguments for amd against the stated brilliance of Messi and Ronaldo?

My point I suppose is when do we accept the brilliance of a player as opposed to always needing to look at context, which I do acknowledge as being important?

We can accept the brilliance of a player whilst also acknowledging that their numbers are being increased by the side they play in. Suarez for example: incredible at Liverpool, obviously a special footballer, but once he settled in to that Barca side in 15/16 his numbers got even better. And the team wasn't even built around him like it was at Liverpool.

The biggest compliment to Messi/Ronaldo or even Lewandowski is that these incredible teams with world-class players and managers all decide it's worth building around them, because they're that good. You don't become central to these teams without being an insanely good footballer. It's just as a result of that the numbers look a bit silly, but that's not to say other players in the same scenario could achieve the same .. they absolutely couldn't.

Lewandowski would score a stupid amount of goals anywhere because he's world class. He just wouldn't score as many for Spurs as he does for Bayern, nobody here would argue otherwise right?

I wonder if he's genuinely incapable of keeping up that press anymore (I really don't see why .. he's not even 30 yet) or if it's a decision on his own part to save energy for attacking runs. Could even be a psychological thing where he's worried about his ankles exploding again.

There's no way a footballer of his age should be incapable of pressing hard, unless his injuries were more severe than we thought.

The one he used to do under Poch. There was a time when it was one of his most admirable qualities, now I don't expect the same energy/tenacity as back then, but jesus, these days off the ball he's a non-entity.

The managers we've had obviously don't help at all.

I think he calmed it down during the 18-19 season, injuries obviously started getting to his head. Jose would have been aware of his ankles too and he obviously doesn't care too much about a high press. I'd imagine the 2 of them came up with a way to adapt his game and minimize the risk of injury.

I really hope a new coach can get him back to pressing as many strikers older than him like Lewandowski, Suarez, Jimenez still do it. The only thing is that after taking advice from a manager with Joses CV, and still scoring so many goals, why would you listen to another manager unless they're Pep or Klopp?

All hypothetical of course 😛

No one is pressing under Nuno - that's the point

We're playing dog-shit sideways football most minutes - for shame

As is always the case when you sent the truth.
My opinions are simply based on what’s happening.
I’ve posted he scored 33 goals, not denied he scored goals.
The difference is that I’m not hiding behind the sofa and shutting my pants when it comes to looking at it a bit deeper

I'm done because we're going round and round in circles. I couldn't care less that you rate Kane nowhere near as highly as myself or most others. Each to their own.

But you try to act like this wise guy, because you spend a bit of time looking up things on Google. So Kane scores a lot of his goals against inferior opposition. So what? He's no different than any other striker then. Lewandowski, Haaland, Lukaku... If you also look into that you'll also see that they don't score anything like as often against the bigger and better clubs. Sure, Lewandowski does score against big clubs and in finals. I'm not stupid. But he also plays in a far superior side to the one that Harry does and has been. But you never acknowledge that because you know it doesn't fit into your weird fucking agenda.

Superior side? You said it was because the bundesliga was relegation standard…

I have acknowledged that Bayern are superior as is Lewandoski. That’s why he’s there while no one is trying to sign Kane.

I’m not sure what you think it takes for a player to win a Carabou? Maybe we need Pele behind him?

Are you that simple? The Bundesliga on the whole is absolute turd. Entertaining, but turd. It has one outstanding team, a couple of good ones, and then the rest range from bang average to genuinely shocking. Bayern have been one of the best sides in the world for as long as I can remember. What's so difficult to understand about that??

I have wondered the same thing. Almost too cautious.

Watching him of late has been like watching a depressed parrot hopping around at 2mph. Piss boring. But last night the mummy was reanimated and causing some proper carnage on the farmer's land. Son looked very alive and 2 + 2 might just make 4 once more.

Finger's crossed.

Nothing difficult at all.
Lewandoski is still better than Kane though.
He would make a difference for us on the trophy front even now.
Kane doesn’t
