Ex-Spurs Player Harry Kane

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

That whole contract signing thing didn't work out the way both sides envisaged Levy may have thought a few clubs home and abroad might come looking and Harry naively thought he would get the move in a year or two . It could have worked if a move abroad was on the cards but nothing so a real mess came about plus we will have to replace him in a year or two anyhow .
Theres a lesson to be learnt for all young players and agents here. If you believe in yourself to excel and one day would like to play for a top top club , dont renew your contracts.

If he wants to leave and there is no clause in his contract then that is what he needs to do. But he won’t will he? It’ll cost him and ‘ole Charlie boy money so no way. Let the club stump up instead except with three years on his contract all odds are against him.

smacks of bad decisions bought about by bad advice to me. His brother seems to be a bit of a cretin.
No offence GOAT GOAT
Do you think Levy would let him go if he hands in a transfer request?

The easy way to fix that in future is write it into the contract. If you want to leave you have to have it in writing and forfeit X, Y and Z.
If we accept a bid and your services are no longer required, you're still entitled X, Y and Z.

I can’t believe people think this is about money on Kane’s behalf.

he has shown throughout his career with us he wasn’t bothered about money until his last contract where it was embarrassing to the club we weren’t paying the going wage.

Harry wants to win things. That’s why he wants out.

Its that simple.

For how bad of a player he was and the stick he got from us he’s surprisingly pro spurs

Indeed. Although I'd venture a guess that it's down to him realising how bad he was. Which I say tongue-in-cheek, but also seriously. With the career he's had post-football, it'd be a decent assumption that he's a fair bit smarter than your averager footballer, and the specific career takes self-awareness and reflection (or you go bust fast). He was likely fully aware that he was at the apex of his football career with us, took it in stride, and just enjoyed the ride.

I'm not going to comment on the two posters you have mentioned by name, but I have said we should forgive and forget if Harry is still our player on the 1st September.

Does that mean I hate the club? I'm not Spurs? I'm an idiot? Should "find a new hobby"?

When someone wrongs me, my first instinct is to find a way to forgive them. Not to act as if they are dead to me. And the more I liked the person before the "wronging", the harder I'll try.

This "he's dead to me" attitude some seem to have cannot, literally cannot, be the view of the majority. And if he IS still ours come September, it would make zero logical sense to maintain it. IMO it makes little sense now...

I can forgive him for being stupid, selfish and ignorant to the supporters and club that gave him the platform to perform and be the player he is today, I can even forgive him for the blatant lies he has told afterwards in his bullshit twitter statement.

But I will NEVER forget and will never see him the way I did before, he's burnt that bridge for me, I don't consider him "one of our own" anymore.

If we could get £160m or say around £120m and Laporte we'd be insane not to deal. I maintain that despite last seasons stats he is slowing up. Next season might not be great as we'd have a new young team and he will no doubt score a shed load up there but longterm, if we spend ok, it could push us on another level.

Nope, not this year. I think the three years remaining are crucial to the whole thing. Next year? Much more likely but as the clock ticks down the power shifts from club to player.

Harry's just been spotted on the River Lea, at Enfield.

That simple, eh? Quick - and simple - math for you. Kane would likely command 400k/week and would want a 5 year deal. That makes signing him at "our" price a deal costing City 160m fee + 100m wages = 260m.

If Kane's desperate for the move AND it's not about the money, all he has to do is sign a contract at 50 pence/week, and it's a done deal, at the cheap, cheap price of 160m total. Everybody's happy. Why hasn't he done this yet? Simples.

That’s the market value so Levy is quite correct in insisting on it
This is how some will spin it, no matter what happens.

Levy gets £160m
"Levy you cunt, our best player left because of you"

Levy gets less than £160m
"Levy you cunt, you've let him go for fuck all, just so you can line your pockets"

Kane stays
"Levy you cunt, you should of let him go, he deserves it and he's not committed"

Kane stays and becomes top scorer again and leaves next year for @ £100m
"Levy you cunt, we could of got £140m last year if you weren't so tight *.

And on it goes.

look you can write all the damning paragraphs about him but do you think he gives a fuck? A footballers career is 10-12 years at best. Time is running out and Harry wants to get a few medals on the shelf before his times up. Football isn’t about loyalty any more. None of this is personal for Harry, it’s only business.
