Ex-Spurs Player Harry Kane

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I think everyone other than yourself thought he gave a 7 out of 10 sort of performance. Which while being nothing great, is acceptable. He's the only player we have that can hit the passes he does. Son can't. Lo Celso can't. Skipp can't. As usual you make it sound like he could barely stand up properly last night. I'm sure Antonio, while wanting him to start scoring in the Premier League, was more than content with his individual performance.

I like how previously it was 'oh he offers nothing but goals, tap in merchant' but now he's playing a deeper role which is helping others like Son/Reguilon as he's the only one with the passing ability to find them in space consistently, it's all about whether he scores or not.

We have no creative mids so atm he is performing that role. When he does get in front of goal there's 100% a bit of a mental block for him but no reason he can't overcome that. Otherwise he's performing under Conte well so far, last two league games I'd give him a 7 and 7.5 respectively.

Great performance from Harry last night. All it lacked was a goal but without him in the team we'd have struggled to win that match.
Some of his passing was mind blowing. On more than one occassion exposing the mediocrity of his team mates.
MotM for me by some distance
How can anyone call that a great performance after demanding we spend a few hundred million every summer to be better

His teammates? I recall Skipp putting one on a plate for him…..how did that go

Couldn't find a single site rating him less than 7, few 8's and 7.5's. So clearly a good performance from the perspective of non-Spurs fans.

I think this was a good summary:

'Kane might not have scored against Brentford, but this was a big step in the right direction from the Englishman. He did come close to finding the back of the net, only to be denied by Fernandez. However, on Thursday, Kane was heavily involved in chance creation, playing a game-high four key passes while releasing Reguilon in the buildup to Son’s goal. Job well done.'

Let’s not get carried away now. He has made some good passes the last couple PL games and there’s potential for him to move to a creative #10 type of role permanently but overall he still wasn’t great yesterday. It was just one of his better performance in a season that’s seen him with 1 goal in 13 apps, with a 3% goal conversion rate and -2.2 goals under xG.

The big elephant in the room still remains - Harry is by far the slowest player and least mobile player on the pitch almost every game. And he’s showing no signs of improvement physically. That is not good news for a footballer that’ll be 30 in a year.

I think we might be able to salvage something from him (if we can’t sell him) by converting him into a 10 type of role but the way it stands now, his time as a good goalscorer in the PL is all but done. He might get a few penalties and easy tap ins here and there but it doesn’t mean much given how little he scares or threatens defenders.

But nobody is getting carried away. Nobody has said he was great. Nobody has said he looked like the player he was. But on the ball he had moments of genuine quality. And he's definitely playing with a bit more determination now, as to be expected. We need more from him, and certainly more Premier League goals, but nobody is saying anything different.

It's like you have to fight against yourself just to say he had a decent game.

This “it’s the teams fault” narrative is BS

Callum Wilson has 5 goals in 10 apps for Newcastle and they haven’t won a game
Hojberg has 2 for us, Kane has 1

I think that DESPITE is not being very creative, Kane has still been utter shit and that’s on him

Good players should stand out, Kane just isn’t good now, and three passes won’t change that. Winks also made a good pass so fucking what

4 key ones actually, more than anyone on the pitch by a distance. GG.

This part mate:

You’re making it sound like he’s up against players that aren’t Winks and GLC. He isn’t exactly Eriksen or KDB. But he’s definitely got potential as a #10 if he is up for it and puts his mind to it. Needs improvement to make the transition and needs to prove he can make those passes against better teams.

At the beginning of the year, I suggested that he should just focus on being a distributor and got called an Asian Woolwich fan with an agenda. Turns out this is where he’s been the most useful this season when he’s actually being used as a distributor.

4 key passes in a game would be good going for any 10, including those. He was the creative hub.

I think it's temporary until we bring in another midfielder, and then he will be pushed up, and I fully believe he's still capable of doing so.

No, he had a good game. Not as a striker, but as a distributor. There’s glimpses here and there showing that he could possibly be a better 10 than he is a 9 going forward.

I suggested that we should convert him to a 10 at the beginning of the year and now it’s looking like it has some merit.

And there's the difference. You don't rate Kane too highly, especially as a striker, but you're not completely blind to the good things he does like sammyspurs, who makes him sound like Ali Dia regardless of what he does or doesn't do every game.
