Yes I’d have a problem if Winks continues to play at the expense of signing an upgrade on him.
We all know where this ends, two decent games isn’t going to cut it any more than Deles one decent game
I always thought Winks biggest problem is his body mass. Almost looks like a boy among men, gets rid of the ball because hes afraid to be pushed off of it instead.
If he could bulk up to the size of, let's say Tanguy or Dembele then he could be an absolute beast.
That's a big IF though.
I reckon Winks has earned himself a reprieve until the summer.... Nothing more, so far.
If it ends in Winks returning to the norm then he will be upgraded.
And it was two very good games vs one good at best game from Dele and another terrible one. If Winks starts vs Watford and plays as poorly as Dele did against Southampton, he will be correctly dropped .. so again where's the issue?
It's strange you'd have a problem with Winks playing even if he was continuing to perform at this clearly very good level. Personally I'd just be delighted and surprised a player has come good and we don't have to spend big, but you do you.

Yeah, but Luka's vision for processing the game play helped him. His footballing mind worked probably 1.5x as fast as Winksy, no? Maybe that's just also my Romanticism of having a real play makers
bulk might help but its mindset more, hes not aggressive enough, skipp cant weigh much more if any at all? yet he will throw himself into challenges against bigger men and win them through sheer heart.
bulking up might actually make a player like winks even worse and cause the already big physical deficiency to become greater.

Winks playing well, is just Winks playing to a decent standard. There’s no higher level.
Im not going to crack one off because he only made two mistakes and went forward.
He’s just not very good I’m afraid, there comes a time when you have to stop being naive and just understand that we’ve seen everything we have to see from some of our players and there is no more they can offer, other than a couple decent games here and there.
Of course so why not get Winks to play the game faster and forward (which is what he is doing) as opposed to bench pressing
1.5? try more like 3x..that and the fact he was superior technically and......well he was just superior in every aspect of the game. it feels disrespectful to even compare a player like luka modric to tiddly winks
Players of his size can 100% be successful midfielders in any league (as others have mentioned, Modric, but also David Silva routinely taking the piss out of PL midfields) but you do need to be exceptional technically if you don't have the physicality. And as you just posted, you have to be a player who has worked out what he wants to do with the ball before it even comes to them. At that point it doesn't matter if you're a unit or not, because you've passed the ball before anyone even gets near you.
Modric was a joy to watch in that respect.

Whatever words Conte had with him is working so as long as he can be consistent I would start him. He has the ability to make plays. I think he just forgot.

It's not naive to just be able to recognise when a player is doing good stuff regardless of his name. You're just blinded by the fact its Winks, whereas I don't give a shit what the name is on the back of shirt, I'm just seeing a midfielder who is putting in 8/10 performances right now, and that's obviously good enough for him to be playing.
You're acting like I'm hyping him up or pretending he's now the answer to all our problems, when all I'm saying is a player who is performing well is .. performing well. I leave whether he needs to be upgraded up to Conte.
