How do you grade our transfer window?

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Well I was better than it looked like being for a long time. Llorente for me is the icing on the cake. Only time will tell how good the new players are and whether a good fit but the indications are all good. Think that the posters that said we cannot improve our first 11 are going to be proved wrong. Shame Danny Rose saga happened but he should be happy with what has happened and as long as the fans forgive him then a good window.

all signings are an improvement on who they replace so a good window. Would have needed a Lemar or Draxler for an A. Getting Barkley would have been an A-.

Imagine the depth if we had

Lloris
Sanchez (£40m)
Alderweireld
Vertonghen
Aurier (£23m)
Dembele
Rose
Eriksen
Keita Balde (£30m)
Dele
Kane

Vorm
Trippier
Foyth (£8m)
Dier
Davies
Wanyama
Winks
Lamela
Barkley (£21m)
Son
Llorente (£15m)

Ins cost £137m

Outs Sissoko - £20m, Janssen £20m, Wimmer £18m, Walker £50m, Njie £7m, Glyfi money £4.5m plus the £17m Bentaleb money £136.5

Pretty much break even that would have been!

2 seriously good first 11's to choose from. Imagine the games played at the training ground :pochohshit::pocheyes::pochlol:

That would have been my all time best transfer window ever seen. I'd be getting Foyth 21 tattooed on my back right now if we had pulled this off. Still, Poch and Levy have done a very good job this window keeping all intact for our future evolution

C+ to B-

Essentials: replaced Walker well but did not resolve the AM/pace depth issue in our attacking midfield

Non-essentials: brilliant signing of Sanchez and smart Redknapp style signing of Lorente.

Had we got a decent AM I would have gone for B+ or A
Yep, word for word agree with all that basically.

Llorente at the end was a great bit of business. If the rumours are true about Aurier and he was always our first choice then Levy deserves real credit for playing it as he did. Would have liked a dynamic mediapunta to challenge Son and Lamela (yes and Dele and Eriksen). And again, if the Barkley rumours are true, absolutely love the triple cunting of Chelsea.

Really happy to be proved wrong (again), Levy played a fine long game it would seem. I still think we could have done good business earlier though.

C+/B-. I was more or less expecting a C- or C

C+ or 6•5/10
Ok replaced Walker, but 3 games too late,
hopefully better but time will tell.
Llorente adds experience.
Sanchez seems an exceptional amount for a CB as we are ok ish there .
Would have rather gone out and bought a game changer.

No Messi or Ronaldo is a F

But in all honesty. I'd go with a C+. Had we done business earlier in the window and instead of waiting It'd be a B-. Would've liked an AM or a Winger. Think Foyth will need some time to adjust. Aurier should be a solid addition. Llorente will be a great bench player. Gazza is good depth. Sanchez is a young and promising center back.

I'll go with B. B- in the short term and B+ in the long term. I am conflicted because a smaller budget club really needs to buy low and develop prospects to compete with the big boys, but getting UCL next year is insanely important because of our new stadium. We could attract much more.

I'd say B right now.

It also looks as if we have Barclays for all intents and purposes, possibly in January.

Like to reiterate that I love players are realising Chelsea are a disease.

Was also wondering in my head what if, what if we'd had Llorente the last two seasons......

It seems well established that the deal was done a while back but he was waiting for FO clearance. My biggest concern is that he has a bad habit of misbehaviour. Doesn't matter how good he is if he's banged up in nick.

Some real fanciful hypothesising going on here. I'll bet after we replaced Elvis with the Beatles some of you were predicting winning the double.
I'll answer this question next April.

We seemed to have conducted ourselves well and came over very assertive with our purchases- A.
However, how good the players are and adpt- (hold judgement)
Its all down to the business on the pitch now-lets see what we have.
Its all about improvement in the team/squad and results. Will they play straight away or do we get part performances from them over time. I enjoyed the transfer deadline day as with everyone else but Its all down to playing good football and results. lets hope-fingers crossed, that we bought well.

The good thing is every player has a little bit of competition now that's better than it was last year. Winks has another year under his belt vs Dembele, Wanyama now has direct competition with Dier for that CM slot after our investments in Sanchez and Foyth freed him up from his defensive duties and if things aren't working out for Alli or Eriksen in. Game we have the capabilities of switching to a 4-4-2 with Llorente the target man and Kane dropping a little deeper like he sometimes does when starved of the ball in matches. With Kane's ability to drop wide or deep and Llorentes hold up play/ power in the air it gives more power back to the manager which is vital for Mauricio as we have less issues when a player is in bad form/ don't training well , or has a bad attitude etc.

Top of Pochettinos wish list to his scouting network should be a GK that's about 23,24 who can take over from Hugo in a couple of seasons time/ when his reflexes start waning, a young Maura udon for LB/ LWB to compete with Danny Rose as of next summer, a young CM to compete with Dembele (I think this will end up being Barkley and I think he'll flourish in a slightly different role to what he's used to doing this), a young DM that is as close to (I hate to say it) Viera as possible.

The next Dele Alli, Sancho seemed perfect for this but we move on as Man City seem to have stitched us up, and the next Christian Eriksen in case he starts feeling like he needs the next stage of his career to kick in. I'd love him to stay but ultimately it'll be down to Christian if he wants to stay or do, the same applies to Dele but a couple of years down the line, he really shouldn't even be considering a move for at least 3 more years.

Kane, well Llorente is a great short term option and the right guy for the next step I feel. Prem experience, legs are going a bit, nice hold up play and I read somewhere he's 6ft5. Tall, strong, good feet and intelligent with an array of medals that demonstrate he commands respects from the dressing room. If we can get 2 years out of Llorente wonderful but I feel he'll be here for a year and end up somewhere like the MLS for his career send off. All we ask Fernando is that you work hard, keep that hunger and do all you can to bring us our first title in over 50 years. You'll forever go down as a legend if you are able to do so.

Lloris/ New GK/ Gazzaniga
Aurier/ KWP
Rose/ New young LB
Sanchez/ Alderweireld/ Vertonghen/ Foyth
Dier/ New young Defensive CM
Dembele/ New young Box to Box Mid / Winks
Eriksen/ New young creative mid
Alli/ new next Dele/ new young speedy winger
Kane/ New hot young striker (18 year old etc) / Llorente

7 players, all coming in as backup but all earmarked for the first team in the future when their senior rivals/ colleagues start fading a little. The most important thing is that Tottenham Hotspur don't find themselves in a situation where if they lose a player like in the past with Bale etc, the hard work done so far purely turns into profit. We should have ready made players to step in if we lose someone like Eriksen or Dele one day where if they don't come off how we hoped they would we can go and buy, similar to the Walker/ Trippier/ Aurier situation.

For me the players who will find themselves on the fringes by the end of the season will be:

Vorm, Trippier, Davies, Wanyama, Sissoko, GKN, Son, Janssen (Son will be up there with Giroud and Martial as one of the best impact players in the league and will start a lot of games but inevitably will become a squad rotation player as our calibre of quality when attracting a defender grows) will one day turn a tidy profit of roughly £140-£150m if they are unable to offer much as we evolve a year or two down the line and with that money, along with the stadium revenue we should be able to get the best youngsters in the world to come, learn and grow like we have seen Rose, Walker, Eriksen, Dele and Kane do.

I'm getting ahead of myself (clearly ) but after seeing Spurs damaged in the past due to players leaving as well as it becoming obvious that we look to balance the books as much as we balance the team, I reckon Poch should be and will be focusing on these areas for his scouting network to identify the right talent and attitudes over the next couple of windows. If the players I've mentioned regarding moving on perform then great, I just see them as the ones whose talent can be replaced easiest and whose value will start dropping if they aren't playing (and we all know Levy loves to get maximum profits out of players that have served the club for their purpose and potential).

OK that's sorted my start to the morning, now for a fry up :pochohshit:
