Bump.

Another terrible showing today. Playing like one of those bastketball players in Space Jam after they touch the bastketball and lose all their powers. I can't recall seeing such a decline from his form at the start of last season.

He looks to me like he's almost trying too hard to make something happen, taking one touch too many. Always playing like he's being watched by Southgate in the crowd or something and bottling it each time.

At some point you have to wonder if it's a mentality issue and not just the injury.

At this rate I give it 3 months til Bergvall is starting over him. And that's being generous.
bit like kulu, started unreal and then fell of a cliff.

defo trying to force it far too much, becomes transparent when players are trying the hollywood every time they get the ball.

do think hell turn it around tho, the player is there. just needs to get his head right and get in the zone.

He's doing fine.
Expecting a 15-20 G/A season.

Definitely needs an experienced player to compete with him, he’s just far too flaky physically and mentally to be relied upon for a possible 60 game season. It’s not fair to him.

Injury is a pitfall for any player; but we heard a LOT of talk from him when he first arrived and as a senior player who's 28 we need him to live up to those words.

I'm not sure the boy does pressure as well as I'd hoped. He is a bit fairweather great when things are great. I think Ange has rumbled him and that we buy Eze to directly compete with him. 60 game season coming we need s shop ready attacking midfielder and it will Eze then Maddison.

Spot on.

Quite a few of our players up the pointy end of the pitch fall into that category. Towards the end of the season our bench was made up of random kids and the tea lady.

The kids are tearing up the preseason but I think we can all guess the lineup for MD1 and Madders will be in it.

Slightly worry he'll become a bit of luxury player for us rather than the centrepiece.

He’s already a luxury player for us right now, he has done nothing since November.

I back him to turn it around and start playing well again but too many people are going soft on him. We have to be more ruthless when we analyse our players, he is not a slight worry, he’s a major one. Once opponents focused on kicking him he disappeared for the season and became a ratty, timid player.

De Bruyne gets lumps kicked out of him and has lots of injuries but he always plays with tenacity. I don’t get that vibe from Maddison so far.

Some players just don't give a shit about pre-season, I hope he's one of them and he wakes up when the season starts. Playing against his former club should be good motivation. I do find his lack of form concerning, it's been stretching for much too long.
