Player James Maddison

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

He's been pony for a long long time.

At least now he'll get hooked for Bergvall if he stinks the place out for 65 mins. And I back Bergvall to take his chance and cement a place in the starting XI.

Hopefully the competition makes Madders grow rather than shrink.

Some players just don't give a shit about pre-season, I hope he's one of them and he wakes up when the season starts. Playing against his former club should be good motivation. I do find his lack of form concerning, it's been stretching for much too long.

He hasn’t had a good game since November.

Of course I don’t expect him to play heavy metal football in pre-season but just compare the way he’s played this summer with Bergvall. He is being shown up by a youngster.

After being shite for the last 8 months I don’t think Maddison has any right to coast though this pre-season. Whatever it is that’s going through his head, it’s going to end up pushing him to the bench if he doesn’t shape up.

He will eventually sort himself out. Good test for him actually...pretty sure he's always been first choice and the g2g in his teams so maybe it's a kick up the arse he needs.

Has he had a good game since coming back from injury?

I can't think of any game where he's really excelled after THAT Chelsea game...

He was running the show for us before he got injured last season. 3 goals and 5 assists in 11 matches on a brand new team.

It was obvious he came back way too early from injury and never found his form.
So what's the excuse 8 months down the line? Even bentancur has had some good games since his recovery from a very serious injury.

I expected more from him today as Bayern was the proper big team we played in pre season. But he still disappeared and I'm getting concerned. The injury shouldn't be a discussion any more. Is it only me who feel he's becoming like a diva in the squad, always craving for attention? He does seem to think he's an undroppable being a vice captain so he's doesn't look to be putting in the effort externally. Biss gave out the same vibe as well. I hope Ange can sort these senior players mentality out because both of them lost their form totally halfway through the last season in the same fashion.

We really need Eze or someone similar to bring the best out of Maddison, he’s too comfortable at the moment as he’s the only midfielder of the type we have

Really haven’t been impressed with him since the Chelsea game

A player who came back too early from a bad injury and is struggling for form and confidence. He's too good a player not to come good again. He had quiet periods for Leicester.

Spot on.

Quite a few of our players up the pointy end of the pitch fall into that category. Towards the end of the season our bench was made up of random kids and the tea lady.

The kids are tearing up the preseason but I think we can all guess the lineup for MD1 and Madders will be in it.
Donley, Lankshear, and Devine all need loans.
Skipp and Emerson need to be moved on. Moore looks ready to play prem ball now, though only as a sub for now. Really impressive tactical understanding and crossing from him.
