I used to wear very protective shin pads, so it was my foot bones that got smashed up instead. You just can't eliminate sporting injuries. That said, I also wonder how effective these tiny modern shin pads are, especially at amateur level.

Maybe our medical department is able to come up with some kind of diagnosis before the season starts...

I guess it's a bad injury. Most times the club comes out with an update on the player quickly when it's just a minor thing.

It's been 3 days without an update and there have been reports the swelling hasn't gone down enough for a scan. So best case we are probably looking at an ACL tear which for a frail player like him is probably 9-12 months. If he's done his MCL and meniscus as well it would be a surprise if he plays another game for us. It seems like his knee completely exploded.

The next update will probably when he’s had surgery (if needed - which seems likely)
 
They maybe keeping the severity of the injury under wraps until they've signed a replacement number 10, rather than give the upper hand in negotiations to the selling club.
