Transfers January 2018 transfer thread

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Why is it okay to "Trust Poch" when it comes to team line ups, signings etc.

Yet when he says he wants to be our Ferguson, works for Spurs as if he wants to work here forever etc. we decide to believe what the news says?

He isn't leaving.

I also thought I read a quote recently of him saying something to the effect of how he would agree to a 10 yr contract with Spurs....

Barring some horrible fallout between him and Levy, he's not going anywhere for a good while. (but I still crossed my fingers)

How do sports papers in Europe get away with printing straight bullshit everyday? Like, they can literally just say whatever they want without any accountability. People will still subscribe and keep them in business.

Pau Lopez in for Vorm this summer
Sessegnon in for Rose
Moura in for Sissoko
Malcom to beef up the team.

Our squad could be looking like this if we get our so called targets:

Lloris
Alderweireld. Sanchez. Vertonghen
Aurier. Sessegnon
Wanyama.
Moura. Eriksen. Alli
Kane.

Pau Lopez
Trippier. Dier/ Foyth. Davies
Dembele / Winks
Lamela/ Malcom/ Son
Llorente

Get Arp in the summer after that for old man Llorente and we'll be looking good for the future

Carrasco would be a better fit in my opinion. Him alongside Alli and Eriksen would be a real marque player. I rate Moura but Carrasco is better for our club from first eleven all the way to the branding and business side of things. Shame we haven't even been linked with him
No way Carrasco would go for anything close to Lucas's price. If he would then we'd be in for him (along with the rest of the league).

No end product. Sell.

Just a word on his end product, it's looks like those saying there is none are the same people who want Malcom (who apparently still retain an interest in, so it might not be either or but both going by The Times this morning) Lucas Moura statistically had a better season 2016/2017 than Malcom is having now. Only reason why he's not playing this season is because PSG are playing Mbappé, Neymar and Di Maria. Also, he's not 20 like Malcom. But he's no grandpa either, merely 25, statistically that's not even peak (most players peak at 26-28).

Stats are bullshit. Moura plays in a better team that scores more goals ergo he'll have more assists/goals and better general stats, but that is just a reflection of the quality of players around him. It doesn't follow that Player A creates X amounts of chances at Club C therefore he'll continue to create X amount of chances at Club D. He won't - he'll create Y amount of chances. Do you think Sterling would maintain his stats if he went to West Brom? He wouldn't, his numbers would plummet - he'd score and create less.

The Dane The Dane Come on man, you must have found it by now, what was our net spend in 1961?

I was quite young at the time but I remember Greaves was bought for 99000 to save him the tag of being the first 100000 player but it was still the record at the time. Cannot recall any other buys or sales at all. Certainly all the first 11 from the double year stayed.
Gone are the days when we break the transfer record for buying players and Bill Nick was not concerned about buying a player to replace a first 11 player. No bench in those days, no rotation or resting players.

You are right, best we ignore the goals then, he's shit, bin him off. Let Madrid and Utd know this when they are after Kane, after all he's playing in the most attacking side in the PL (last year) and he's absolutely shit and the only reason he has as many goals is because of the team he's in. Andy Carroll is a much better player because he plays in a shit team.

Remember when you went clubbing? There were fantastic girls who wouldn't look at you, pretty girls that flirted with you, average girls who were quite interested, and girls who you wouldn't entertain.
(Notice I was not uncomplimentary about the last category, we'll have no Presidents Club nonsense here!)
But when you smartened up your act, dressed better, were successful in your job, and behaved like a gentleman, the fantastic girls started to flirt with you, the average girls smartened up and some of the ones you weren't interested in suddenly caught your eye.
If you you keep doing that, you won't need to wait for the slow records.
