Well, even an injury like that can become a bigger problem if not treated correctly. He's a young lad who wants to play football.

From a footballing perspective he would be great for us.
Agreed on both points. Hopefully he is/has gotten proper treatment. No reason for a young guy to hamper his career long term by possibly wrecking his knee.

And obviously from a football perspective he would bring us something we don't really have right now.

Eriksen to Spurs?
If Dele leaves it would make sense to bring him in.
But is Eriksen motivated? He left for a new challenge and now he is coming back , that doesn't seem good to me.

If Dele leaves we don't have room to add Eriksen to the squad. At least not to the European squad.

We need to bring in more homegrown talent. Not less.

True HG Quota still a big problem
We need to bring in some HG players this year
In the short term we could replace a foreign player with another foreign player. But that is only plugging the hole rather than fixing it so to speak.

Getting someone like Sean Longstaff in to be Pierre's back up would be a nice homegrown boost. There was a rumor a week or so ago that his agent was having talks with us if Newcastle did not agree with their contract terms.

Or Lascells from the same club as a cb option.

Please god no.

Rather play Japh instead of him.

Lacelles is a dumpster fire of a CB with injury issues. Play Rodon and buy one top class championship league level CB preferably Milenkovic
Give away Eric Lamela Danny Rose

I think we could easily find a English player to bring in as a squad player , anything to boost HG numbers is useful.
Maybe bring in another English GK so we have Lloris , Hart + English GK , 2 homegrowns from that department would be good.

Whiteman meets the age criteria so he is probably already the formal third choice keeper.

But at 22 surely he would want to move on to get regular minutes somewhere?

But it wouldn't be a bad idea to try and find another homegrown veteran keeper that would be fine with being the third choice.

Alternatively look for a homegrown first choice the day that Hugo leaves. Nick Pope is a similar shot stopper profile so he would be interesting to have a look at. Or Henderson if we could pry him away from United.

Militao is great - only see it happening if Sanchez leaves.

Not sure where that leaves Rodon though and it'll be interesting to see if Toby is phased out because of it.

Toby being phased out has to be the long term plan. And Rodon has looked solid in all his appearances so far. But I see that as more of a project for the summer rather than January.

I'd like to see Rodon get some more league minutes in the spring if possible.

Real Madrid signed Militao for £50m in July 2019 from FC Porto

He is contracted there until June 2025. A 6 year contract!

This season he has played 224 minutes of football. Last season 1,469 minutes

He has missed 45 days this season, due to 'a knock' and Covid-19
