Any chance that we go for Van De Beek in january? He could be the missing link for the 3-5-2. He's creative, runs a lot and looking to get a move from United, also we were in a bidding war with United for him, so the interest used to be there from us. If it worked for West Ham last year with Lingard, I can't see why this move wouldn't work for us with Van De Beek, who's a superior player to Lingard.

Overrated player. Would stay away from him.

Mangala from Stuttgart please!

Matt, Matt. Matt ……….

Normally one of the sharpest posters on here but this post is just aftertiming bullshit.

No one was seriously suggesting that we should accept £80m for Kane in the summer. (There were those who were unimpressed by his behaviour and would have given him away) but everyone rightly thought he was worth well north of £100m.

Even if we had sold him for the £75m they offered it wouldn’t have been enough to buy those players.

I get it that yr post is just born out of the frustration of how this season is panning out. But we’re all feeling that brother.
I said back in the heat of summer, that Levy should go to the table with Shitty and work for the best deal. Not refuse to listen. That's not how good negotiation happens

And he should also have been looking at way was available as a replacement at that time and for how much.

All he's done is damage our chances of getting a younger, hungrier player in.

Let's just say he DID accept £80m for Kane. Everyone would probably be spitting venom at that.

But then lets say he spent that £80m in the summer and got both Vlahovic AND Martinez whilst the Italian teams suffered a bit.

We may have had to put a few quid on top, so let's say the net spend was £20m to sell Kane and buy 2 under 25 attackers.

We didn't do that. We now have a player we wont ever get £80m for and doesn't score goals because his heads not right. He's getting older and less valuable all the time.

And on top of that, the 2 players we wanted have got off to fliers in Italy pushing their value AND their appeal up to a point where we're likely out of the race.

All because we were wedded to a number to brag about.

That'd bad business. That's money lost. That's damage to the team and, tbh, it's a bit sad.

Imagine if this isn't Kane sulking and that he's actually struggling. How much would we have laughed if we sold him to City for £80m and he struggled there.

I'm also throwing the £80m around as a minimum, as that's what we believe they offered. A good negotiation doesn't just end there. It goes back and forth, both parties showing there is a deal to be done but they both have to give some wiggle room.

I believe we could have got £100m, maybe more. And we could have really used it to improve the squad.
And that's not hindsight, I said it all summer.
Players aren't objects, forcing them to stay isn't clever

£76.5m bid rejected.

"Club president Rocco Commisso insisted last week he would only consider offers in the region of €100 million for Vlahović,"

So north of £150 for the two and even then Inter opted to keep Martinez.

Stop ignoring the facts of the matter.

Sessegnon is unlikely to leave anytime soon as he's one of our only HG players (we're already struggling to meet criteria).
Ndombele imo should stay as he's our best midfielder, and I don't see any club who would be willing to pay his wages, nor any replacements who are as creative. Obviously I share your frustrations about his work rate, but if Conte can't improve that no one can.
You’re right, no one can

Do you have a career, or are you paid to patrol this forum on a full time basis? Captain sensible

100m was never going to buy Vlahovic and Martinez.

75m for Kane would have been a joke. He'd have 15 goals for City by now and everyone would be calling Levy a cunt and rightly so.

PSG wants to get rid of at least 3 of the players mentioned in this tweet in January apparently.

I am a bit shocked that they want rid of Paredes, who is probably their best defensive midfielder not named Veratti. Not to mention part of Messi's Argentina clique.

Heck, Paredes would do a lot for our midfield. A technical defensive midfielder with decent passing range.

Discount PSG cast-offs, you say?
:levywhoa:

We have that player, it's Harry Kane. We need a striker that can follow the balls Harry provides. I think because of his loss of pace,Harry is more suited now to a 10 role than a traditional striker.
This is why my heart yearns for Vlahovic. He's not the quickest but any video of him does remind me of the way Kane used to get forward when he was younger (with a little more speed, if my eyes don't deceive me).
