Looking at the Wham team who beat Liverpool and no super stars, just players who want to play - still wish we'd bought Jarrod Bowen 18 months ago, HG RW able to play striker who had decent scoring/assisting rate last season for Wham.

This is true but with the setup of Lucas getting in field he won't get many passing options down the line.

But I want to see more from him going forward. Many times he was isolated yesterday and he doesn't have the ability to take on his man 1v1. Or even push the ball and run around the outside.

He could have exploited lots of forward space better.

We chose Bergwijn instead. Add it to the list of poor transfer decisions the club has made in recent times if the bit of paper you have is big enough!
 
We need a Kante style player badly. Busy, up and down the pitch, able to pick opposition pockets, turn and pass forward quickly and pop up every now and then with a goal.
Who is that?

Bissouma?
Brozovic
Neves?
Ndidi?

The trouble is we seem to need to two players to sit deep to have any sort of defensive stability.

Ideally you just want one player of Kante's ilk doing the same job

I think we will go down the Chelsea route of having a deep lying play maker. If you get Brozovic or Neves then they play the 6 role deep passing between the lines, Skipp then plays futher forward in the Kante role breaking up play and driving forward.

In recent times the DM and CM have switched positions. The CM sits deep and runs the game with passing and the DM plays further forward engaging the opposition higher up the pitch. Chelsea do this with Jorginho and Kante, no reason we couldn’t do this with Brozovic/Neves and Skipp.
 
Having Conte as manager means we can attract more higher quality players than we would normally, we have to take advantage of that.

It's not so much that we need 1 x mega-player; we just need more defensive responsibility from Ndombele/Gio to play them in a CM2.

Seeing as we can't count upon that:

PEH / Skipp / Ndombele

Or

PEH / Skipp
Ndombele

....Is our best option without additional recruitment.

Added bonus is it allows PEH more license to roam too; which is when he's at his best.
