Transfers January 2022 - Transfer Window

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Don't underestimate that "youth" set up either. For every Mount or Hudson-Odoi there's an Atsu and a Loftus Cheek, and they sell those that don't make it for decent sums which offsets their current spend.
Their fans also don't demand every one of their academy players is in the squad. They understand it's as much a profit centre as a centre of excellence.

And I think Chelsea lie about transfer fees received.

Henderson is contracted to United until 2025 and earns around £120,000-a-week. He had been told he was due to start the season as the number one goalkeeper but contracted Covid-19 in the second week of pre-season and was laid low for a month. Henderson has only played twice this term in the League Cup and final Champions League group gam

If Dembele is truly available for a reasonably affordable fee, I would still go for him.

The guy is a genuinely generational talent. If it weren't for injuries, I really do think he could have been the better player between him and Mbappe.

I understand the scepticism, but the prospect of a front three of Dembele, Kane and Son in a fully functional, well oiled Conte team is absolutely terrifying.

Generational talent?
What?

Based on what? How has he proven his overall ability?

He was wonderful piece of business for Dortmund, agreed. But thats where it all ended. For good.

Also fee is not too relevant with him - he not worth much - transfermarkt gives him 35 mil eur valuation (!) + contract about to run out. But issue is - he wants long and big contract. Don't know details, but I'd assume 4 years, 250k per week would be minimum.
That is 52 mil EUR commitment. And then... if he is absent from the squad for a season?

Way too much risk. And quite frankly I do not believe he will ever will be mentioned in the same sentence again with Mbappe.
He is could have been.

Very interesting graph.

The way the club is run is an absolute disgrace- non footballing assets prioritised.
That needs to change in the Jan window.

Perhaps they have other revenue streams or built up a huge war chest over the years with their monopoly, but King Power‘s duty-free business would have taken a massive Covid hit. Will be interesting to see how it all plays out.

Leicester need a big war chest spent to sort themselves out. Worth remembering that the figures I posted were to May 2020 - and the figures to May 2021 will be worse due to covid.

Owners were promising a new stadium so as to increase revenues - but the current planning will only take them up to a capacity of 40k , they will also build a hotel and indoor arena. That will increase revenues but probably only take them up to being comparable to say Everton, and some way behind the big 6 clubs.

Before that they probably need to pump in £200m+ just to clear debts from the last 2 - 3 years big losses.

And unless they sell some of the players who are higher earners, Leicester owners will need to pump £50m - £100m each year until the stadium is built, hotel is regularly full and indoor stadium full of events so as generate money. And the stadium, hotel and indoor arena are probably 3 years away from producing extra income.

Hence my comments that players coming to the end of their contracts and won't re-sign may be sold if 'an acceptable' offer' comes in, rather than the player run down his contract more so that his value decreases - and at end of contract its zero.
