While we have Conte, we should aim for players of such a calibre that we may not have been able to get them if not for Conte.

Lingard doesn't fit that category. He's also 29, and has a patchy record for United. Yes he's an improvement on Bergwijn, but not a signing that shows ambition.

Bold seems like the reason it won't happen, if the other reports posted in here are anything to go by. Makes sense. I wonder if they'd be prepared to sell outright for a reasonable fee though .. but either way it probably won't happen.

But this kind of signing is something I'd be happy with for January. People expecting the world in this window are setting themselves up to be outraged.

- Loan for now.
- Pursue someone else with a more long-term view in the summer.

I don’t expect 7 w/c players on Jan 1st, but we’ve been here before. You’re absolutely entitled to be an optimist about it, but equally I’m entitled to believe, based on the evidence of the last few seasons that we won’t sign anyone of any note. Unless you really believe Adama Traore is the answer to Conte’s prayers.

Sissoko was already viewed as very mediocre and we were mocked for signing him .. funny thing is he turned out actually quite useful.

How is it going to end him? The problem we have is ENIC will not sell. The fact is Levy is the main reason we are in such a poor state. The fact is Hitchen is not as bad at recruitment as everyone thinks it is the remit behind the recruitment that is a problem. We do not recruit to back a manager, we recruit with an eye on players keeping their value. Then there is the other type of player where Levy thinks he can get a player for a lower price like Emerson we did not go to Barcelona with an idea of who we were to sign Paratici was sent there to get a bargain that is why we threw away all the scouting we had on Tomiyasu.

Levy has no plan and what he dictates to the scouts means we have ended up with a team with 0 creativity.
