Transfers January 2022 - Transfer Window

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I'm sorry to say that he has been turning in subdued performances when I have seen him this season.

BUT WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN PAPE MATAR SARR?

Unmissable in the midfielder of FC Metz last season, Pape Matar Sarr (19) had a dazzling start to his career with two national caps and a transfer to Tottenham last summer. Loaned to the Garnets in the wake, the Senegalese midfielder is in distress during this first part of the season, even losing his place as holder.

I blame you. You’ve Ruined Kessie for me (I found myself watching the ACN game the other night and just seeing a hippo shaped trundlemonster - even his hair has all dropped out), now you’ve ruined Pappy Sarr for Steve Wheeltappers and Shunters Whippit club Hitchin.

Don’t watch Sangare any more FFS. Leave us someone to cling to.

Wasn't my point (and doesn't address it) and wasn't concerned about your empathy. Just addressing how sound your previous reasoning was...less so this new stuff. Tough waiting 2 years to hear those magical 3 words from you and to be able to say the magical 4 to you. But I'll take it!!!!

Tough, athletic, technically decent, quick, CM

Who say you? Five Five ?

Pape Matar Sarr's ability is not in question. The issue is that he has gone into his shell this season.

I still like him, you know. Found an interesting quote from his manager recently.

Why is Ibrahim Sangaré so important in your system?
,,Ibrahim Sangaré is important in any system. It has nothing to do with a system. He has everything a central midfielder needs. He could already win balls, but now he makes better decisions and uses his ability to dribble. He had to hold the ball a little longer for that. Sometimes he is just unstoppable. He really grows into a very crucial player for us. He is better on the ball, makes fewer mistakes and plays forward more often. Last season he could be characterized as a player with quite a few lateral and backward passes during the game and that is a lot easier. Passing forward is more difficult, but you have to show that at the top level. He does that now.”

Every time I see traore mentioned I feel physically sick - this guy has the worst fn stats for crossing in the league in history. OMG he is fn shite! He's not a spring chicken so you ain't going to be able to improve him. Please fn noo!!!!
Exactly, it’s Occam’s razor init. It’s so obvious this will be another massive dud signing but for some reason the plain and obvious doesn’t seem to be seen by the geniuses in charge of this club

I have posted this in reply to another post more or less the same but these are his stats for Metz this season after 20 games...

It's stupid any way . I'd 100% expect him to drop off , the moment he signed for another club. It happens nearly all the time with players loaned back. It's basic human psychology. Very very obvious. He's gone from totally committed to split in two of course his focus has shifted.

As you know, always been a big fan of this kid (I don’t think his passing “ambition” was ever an issue personally) but the bits in bold were issues I’d talked about with him, so it’s really good to hear his manager say this (I’d actually asked this specific question of Doc Doc who’d watched him this season I think).

Even as an 18/19yo this kid was really brave when it came to wanting and using the ball. He just needed to polish out the errors and learn to make better decisions at times.

Physical/athletic qualities, technical, super press resistant, sees passes and has range, can use both feet, he could make someone an outstanding 6.

The only other weakness is he tends to get a nosebleed around the opponents box, but this is not a dealbreaker for a 6 like him.

I got no one. Spurs have zapped much of my footballing zeal so I've not been watching a lot of football. Now we finally got an Italian coach to spitroast folks like bus-conductor bus-conductor with Serie A in both ends I'm not sure I'll regain it anytime soon. BC's happy that he can do his chores while the game is on but the rest of us want to be captivated and entertained.

But gun to head (and this is 'Murica...) I would go with Zakaria. IDK what Five Five 's current opinion is of this player but I would assume that he rates him higher than that donkey Kessie. But remember, mine is an ignorant opinion as I've not really watched anything...

Agree. Was really surprised by that comment. Maybe he reined it in a bit when he first went there.

I've seen him a few times this season. Still got a hairy moment in him, I feel, but bags of quality, too.

I wouldn't worry about that at all.

Entertainment's for schmucks. Connoisseur's understand the way to true enlightenment is misty January northern Italian 0-0 with a combined XG of 0.001.

If you are a serious club, Tchouameni.

There are some others I like, but they come with question marks.

You got anyone in mind?

I watched the Bayern/BMG game last Friday and thought Kouadio Koné looked promising. I remember watching his early games at Toulouse and he looked a bit green and gangly, then saw very little of him in 20-21. Another of those tall rangy types, gets a foot in, decent technique under pressure. Made a couple of sloppy mistakes but part from that had a decent game against a tough opposition (even though Bayern weren't at full strength.
