Transfers January 2022 - Transfer Window

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

We can’t move anyone without players coming in, squad isn’t that deep, we move say Bergwijn and Son and Lucas get injured it leaves a whole, same as moving Doherty or Rodon on.
We’ve barely been using a lot of these players anyway, out of everyone I listed Doherty had probably been used the most (at left back!) When a lot of these players get chances they also offer nothing anyway

Yes but we still need to have the bodies in case we need them to field a side at some point, particularly with such a fixture pile-up between now and the end of the season. No self-respecting club would deliberately put itself in a position where it can't field a side obviously.

I have so little hope of getting any business done in this window. I at least hope that we move on some players we aren’t going to use like Bergwijn, Dele, Rodon, Ndombele, Doherty. Don’t want the club to have any excuses not be making moves early in the Summer.
That’s what is stopping us buying new players. As soon as we move players on, Levy will sanction the new signings that Para and Conte have lined up eg Berg out / Adama in.

We don’t have a transfer budget, it needs to self generate signings and other than Berg, none of those dreggs will attract a fee. To get Conte any new players, we need to move on Kane and Som…. Cold hard facts

Nice Gooner dig! It looks like those players are going anyway. According to rumours Bergwijn is close to Ajax and we are looking to move Dele and Ndombele on. Can’t see the latter 2 ever playing for us again tbh, we’d probably pick under 20s over them given the last game

Whilst I'd love the romance of him coming back...
I think he's more likely to end up at Newcastle or Villa.... just sayin' :eriksenserious:
Key phrase. I could not see him coming in and being the Chris we all fell in love with. This would be Bale 2.0. Moments of brilliance, long periods of playing with 10 men.

Side note: I can't think of him without thinking of that moment in the doc where Levy gets him to say on camera 'this isn't about the money'. Weird. If it wasn't that (which is probably wasn't) then what is going to motivate him playing here? Conte is the only thing that changed, everything else got worse.

That all said, it would be a teensy bit romantic. Like buying a rose from a street vendor on a date.

I'd like to agree on Dele and N'Dombele, but we seem to have said about 10 times now over the last 18-24 months that 'they surely won't ever play for Spurs again', then they always seem to get yet another chance. We all know the difficulties in getting N'Dombele in particular out given his attitude and wages - even if we pay a large proportion of them, it seems it's difficult to get genuine takers...

Obviously in an ideal world we get (say) 3 out and 3 in, but I guess that's looking increasingly unlikely to happen. I'm not sure which way round the most problematic driver is though - some sources are saying we want to sell before we buy, yet others are saying we're not prepared to let anyone go until we have replacements. I assume it's a combination, i.e. we want all the ducks lined up ready to press fire for ins and outs to take place relatively seamlessly, but we all know it's never going to be as easy as that, and if that's the intention of those in charge then I think we'll all be legitimately pissed off when it doesn't happen.

At least Bergwijn does appear to have a clear suitor, and whilst he and Traore definitely aren't the same type of player nor same position really, you'd have to hope that those two will get done very soon if that's what Conte wants. (Personally I'm absolutely pro Traore coming, but I know many aren't, and obviously I can understand why).

With Dele & N'Dom, god knows, I guess the best option is to hope they impress on loan somewhere, offer to pay a large part of their wages, and hope the powers that be can find a way to dig deep to strengthen the holes in a squad left by them (holes in terms of numbers I mean, not actual contribution!).

If eriksen was to return would anyone else be absolutely terrified any time he was on the pitch playing ?

Nope. He'd have a pacemaker and would've been cleared by a bunch of very qualified people if he ever got on the pitch. Safest place for him would be on a football pitch where he's highly monitored with medical staff always on standby.
